I agree. I think that deep down the elite are terrified of the people. But they collectively own and control most of the avenues of influence, and thus work hard on influencing behaviour and thinking as well as forming public opinion. As that old saying goes: a slave who thinks he's free is the best slave of all.

This is one of the core themes of the Hunger Games series, and how easily it all falls apart -- at least in the theater.

First, oppress a people, then despise them, then fear them, then oppress them even more, etc.

I'm going to have to watch that Lauren, or at least read the books.

They should be both viewed and read.
