Peter Lemkin Wrote:"This isn't an attempt to time warp back into the 1850s or the wild, wild west or anything like that," said the Missouri state Republican representative, Rick Brattin, who this month proposed making firing squads an option for executions. "It's just that I foresee a problem, and I'm trying to come up with a solution that will be the most humane yet most economical for our state."
Does Missouri state rep Rick Brattin talk with a forked tongue?
"Most economical for our state"? Someone needs to ask him why he feels the need to ponder and then make this statement?
Do Missouri intend to exponentially increase the death penalty in the coming years? Because if they don't, then what he says is complete bollocks. But if they do, then the Rep needs to explain what future plans the state has in mind that his citizens haven't yet been told.
Because the facts are clear:
In 2013, Missouri executed 2 inmates. In 2012, none. In 2011, it was just 1, ditto 2010 (state by state source HERE).
These are not figures that are exactly going to interfere with the Reps luncheon bill entitlement are they.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
