I do find the US to be quite an infantile society. Or maybe I mean the media reflection of it.
Yes, that's what I mean, I suppose, by social engineering.
The emotions are almost always activated and in play, with objective reason in exile - with the desire to fight, shout and bicker that is learned in the playground is then carried through into adult life. It's the ruling elite's old divide and conquer philosophy applied to a nation's citizens and accompanies them from the cradle to the grave.
Stepping out of that matrix, and opening their eyes, as many have done, is vital, I think.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
