I think David was correct. Everyone wanted this story to just melt away. Apparently, the men 'caught' were released; the Bonds were not destroyed and their whereabouts are unknown; the SS didn't send anyone to look at them and everyone just acted as if it were monopoly money and not worth the trouble. I'll bet there were some big deals being made behind the scenes - but likely not the original one planned. There have been mumblings of the Bonds being 'fake', but the legal follow-up for fakes were not followed. None of the media nor governments nor agencies involved are doing follow-up or reporting on this. It never happened. Go back to sleep. Everything is OK.
