Altogether this makes a coterie of very powerful people in the military-intelligence-security domain intent on closing down the subject. Withdrawing or threatening to withdraw government funding is one way you could install a dogma like this, I suppose -- all those external university grants etc.
Inside the magic ring, being sidelined, threatened with the possibility of arrest and conviction -and worse - being demoted, pushed out, getting the cold shoulder treatment would be other ways.
When freedom and livelihoods are threatened people modify their values.
This would be my guess anyway.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
