"Combat Zone," about the LAPD's shootout with the Symbionese Liberation Army the kidnappers of Patty Hearst in 1974. It features old footage and re-enactments. It also includes interviews with the two KNXT-TV reporters on-scene with the then-experimental "mini-cam." This was the first live, breaking news event to be so covered.

In Los Angeles, California, police surround a home where the leaders of the terrorist group known as the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) are hiding out. The SLA had kidnapped Patricia Hearst, of the fabulously wealthy Hearst family publishing empire, months earlier, earning headlines across the country. Police found the house in Compton when a local mother reported that her kids had seen a bunch of people playing with an arsenal of automatic weapons in the living room of the home.
Incredibly, the whole gunfight was broadcast live on national television, using a new experimental technology called the mini-cam, which allowed journalists to report instantly while on the move.
