Ivan, this story seems to be consistent with other things reported in this thread. Still sad.
I think the Verge story goes way beyond that. It suggests that:
- Mike Ruppert was a mental case
- Mike Ruppert was an alcoholic
- his sexual harrasment conviction was correct (Ruppert claimed he was the victim)
- the Teddy d'Orsay drug-trafficking story was a figment of his imagination
As a former subscriber to From The Wilderness I find it all very disturbing. Not to mention the comment section of the article, where you have John McAdams-acolytes dancing on Ruppert's grave.
I don't see how in ANY WAY that article or your post degrades what MR was trying to do and trying to say - and did. He made great contributions to the cause of truth in the deep political and environmental realms. There was through much of his career official police, intelligence and other dirty tricks to discredit him and destroy his life. That, along with being 'human' and also bearing the sad truths [not the American daydream which sees none of the reality - our collective personal one, or societal/political/historical] might have led to depression and use of alcohol. Human, human, all too human.....but it doesn't change my high views of him. Try walking in his shoes a few miles before you condemn him, and buy into the discrediting campaign that often continues long after such a person dies. These kind of hit pieces [often disguised - some part of an ongoing campaign against truth telling, others naively based on those materials and not balanced] are common discrediting techniques used on those who challenged the National Security State and their Big Lies/bad 'habits'... MR exposed [the short list]: RFK assassination lies; CIA+ drug-running lies; corruption in LAPD and other police departments and intelligence agencies; environmental destruction corporate forces and human blindness/hubris created; 9-11; National Security State; over-consumerism; false values of our society; and much more....
I could list many others to whom such was done. If you really were a subscriber to what MR was doing, please don't dance on his grave too; and look at what company you'll be in if you do.
