Powers is a strange one. On the one hand, she wrote a very good book about my Uncle Raphael - a review can be seen here. On the other hand she is obviously playing by the standard rule-book of American Power by Force and Stealth. I can't reconcile the two 'Powers'. I know my Uncle would condemn her and the administration/hidden government she represents at the UN - despite her praise for him, his life, ideas, and work.
By definition, the USA wouldn't hire nor confirm a real peace lover or someone who believed in the rule of (International) Law to be US Ambassador at the UN, sadly. The Empire doesn't play by those rules....... If she ever really believed in the things she implied in her book about my Uncle's life and work, she has now sold herself to the very 'devil' she referred to in that book.

"Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience! People are obedient in the face of poverty, starvation, stupidity, war, and cruelty. Our problem is that grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem!" - Howard Zinn
"If there is no struggle there is no progress. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and never will" - Frederick Douglass
