See, the revival of the RW under Reagan always had as one of its targets the presumed "liberal intellegensia" on the campus.
Way back when Buckley wrote his book about Yale, this had been one of the goals of the new right. To somehow reform the perceived liberalism of the college campus. Although, I never thought of it that way. I just thought that college campuses were supposed to be places of quality higher education and scholarship. If it just so happened that this research revealed the ill gotten gains of the American power structure, well, that was just the truth.
But the new right wanted to discredit that idea. So D'Souza came up with the concept of"political correctness". This was supposed to make conservative ideas more acceptable by discrediting the allegedly condescending attitudes toward them held by liberals. In reality, what D'Souza was doing was turning back the clock on things like racism and homosexuality.
Well, McAdams has taken up where D'Souza left off. This is why I have said, we should not pigeonhole McAdams as a JFK disinformationist, even though he is. He is more than that, much more. And his aim is wider. For him, JFK is important as a symbol of the sixties, which he wants to discredit.
I wouldn't be surprised though if he comes through this thing OK. Simply because the CIA has such close ties to Marquette. Therefore, the investigation will not be full and thorough.
(BTW, the long article about this, which is by far the most detailed synopsis, should be linked to in a few minutes at CTKA.)
