David Guyatt Wrote:Netanyahu's call for European Jews to migrate to Israel may also have a more prosaic reason. Recently I read - or saw - a piece that said that Arab voting power in Israel is now reaching levels close to being on par with Jews in Israel. If this is, indeed, true then it must create a real conundrum for the likes of Bibby, as the majority of Arabs will vote against him, I would imagine.
As it is the majority of Jews vote against him too. He is only in government due to carefully manipulated coalitions.
The demographics have been a ticking time bomb in Israel. I am speaking of Israel itself, not the territories, the Arabs have larger families and will inevitably out number Jewish Israelis in the not too distant future. There are huge economic bonuses to get Jews to move to Israel but there are also plenty moving out of the mad house too. Plenty of young people just perpetually travel the world and only touch with family there infrequently. It cannot be sustained without abandoning democratic principles because obviously Israeli Arabs will vote Palestine into existence at some stage when they have a majority in Israel. The one state solution is coming regardless.
