US defence secrets salvaged from Schiphol crash

The Dutch authorities have confirmed that top secret US defence information was on board the Turkish Airlines plane that crashed at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport several weeks ago.

The information, on the laptops of four Boeing employees who died in the crash, concerned plans for an advanced radar system intended for the Turkish air force. Shortly after the crash, the information was removed from the wreckage and handed over to the US authorities.

A total of nine people, including the pilots, died when the Turkish Airlines fell short of the runway at Schiphol and landed in a field.
