Judge Joe Brown

Hey! Anybody know if JJB was elected? Last I heard on BOR he was running for a judgeship back in Tenn. Promised to reopen the MLK case if elected (test the rifle I think).

He lost by a rather large margin.

It is a shame. I had a contract to purchase the rifle from the Ray Family after JER passed away. Judge Joe was working with us to do more testing. Unfortunately, the politicians did not allow the purchase to go through and the rifle was awarded to the Lorraine Motel for exhibit. We were unable to raise the funds to contest the giving to the museum. Ray Family lawyer asked for a large sum to represent us and to recoup other expenses in his work with the Ray Family.

I am sure there was plenty of money to ensure he would not be elected. Can't have someone who knows the truth about this assassination on the bench. I remember Court tv covering the trial back in I think 94 over the testing of the rifle. It was clear he knew his stuff, so it got him removed from the case.

Yes Judge Joe is very knowledgeable in ballistics and guns in general. At times, he is his own worst enemy as his last campaign showed. He was also entertaining such as his occasional use of a pistol as a gavel. He also defended me in a discussion with a prominent King companion during one of the April gatherings. He did not attend our confrontation with Gerald Posner at the bookstore, when we presented his book "Killing the Dream" with an inscription from JER and then Jerry Ray walked up. Those were fun and serious days.

We had a blast with him at the COPA conf. in 1998. I especially enjoyed hearing his war stories when he was a judge.
He should run for DA then he could really re-open the MLK case, if elected.
