Hugo's Book Club?
#1
Dag, Open Veigns of Latin America by Galeano is #2 OF ALL BOOKS right now at Amazon, after Hugo gave a copy to Obomb'em. I have never read this but I heard it has some real stuff about politics and economics.

This book is now outselling the Stalinist Teenage Vampire books, if you can believe it.

Well now I, like so many others, want to read it. Chavez is somebody who knows what's going on. In fact this may be his way of trying to tell people what's going on without having to depend on the mainstream media which will distort his message.

Has anyone here read it yet?

Eduardo Galeano's books are all great and 'The Open Veins of Latin America ' is one of the very best. He is such a good writer, his style, but he also has a real grasp of the politics and history. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to one of his books. Rediscover your emotions and connection to life. It is not an intellectual exercise but an affirmation of life to read his works.
"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it." Karl Marx

"He would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies. When asked in court whether she knew that Lord Astor had denied having sex with her.

“I think it would be a good idea” Ghandi, when asked about Western Civilisation.

Wow, ok thanks Maggie. An affirmation of life would come in handy.
