An American terrorism commentator has been forced to apologise after describing Birmingham as a "totally Muslim" city.
During an appearance on Fox News, Steven Emerson also claimed parts of London were controlled by "Muslim religious police".
He later apologised for the "terrible error" after his comments spawned the huge #FoxNewsFacts hashtag on social media.
He had told the network: "In Britain, it's not just no-go zones, there are actual cities like Birmingham where non-Muslims simply don't go in.
"And in parts of London there are actually Muslim religious police that actually beat and actually wound seriously anyone who doesn't dress according to Muslim religious attire."

I just listened to the whole clip and this is so over the top, it is not even funny anymore. This guy cannot have been to Europe any time in the last 20 years and if that is his expertise I do not want to know about the areas of his lesser knowledge. Ok, in Germany there are certain, few, areas where there are majorities of, for example, people with turkish backgrounds, or, less often, arab or russian, and there are some problems with education and also crimes, but to speak of no-go zones is ludicrous. Some months ago there were some youngsters putting on vests with Sharia Police written on them, talking to people in the street about muslim rules, but this provocation was stopped immediately and it was most likely not even done by muslims.
Maybe he should go to China Town, San Francisco, then he will claim that non-chinese people just don't go there...

Steven Emerson is absurdly wrong, but I do not think he is an Idiot. I even own a book of him, "American Jihad". He is in the business of creating fear of muslims for over 20 years. He is doing this for a purpose. Fox news is doing this for a purpose, they are not so stupid that they could not have fact checked these statements in five seconds. It is the worst kind of propaganda, creating fear and hatred, benefitting someone entirely different.
Maybe Emerson overdid it this time, maybe even consumers of Fox news are not so removed from reality to believe this.

They've been saying this crap for years about parts of the United States (like certain areas of Michigan). Allegedly San Francisco is run by Gay Nazi Communist Islamic Fundamentalists who are implementing Shariah law and same sex marriage.
