European Institute of Management
#1
"European Institute of Management"
In the Beyond Dutroux article a low-profile private intelligence firm with the name "European Institute of Management" (EIM) was discussed. It seemed to be a continuation of the private PIO intelligence group ran by Vanden Boeynants, Baron de Bonvoisin, and General Roman. They gave orders to Major Bougerol and the underground fascist militia leaders Francis Dossogne and Paul Latinus. DIA, DEA, undoubtedly CIA, NATO's stay behind, and Wackenhut connections were all over the place. This group was basically in the business of running drugs and arms for the international war against communism - part of which was exposed as the Contra affair. In this process they also tried to subvert the Belgian state in an effort to keep it as friendly to this cabal as possible. Proven methods appear to have been assassinations, false-flag terrorism, and maybe the most important, large-scale pedophile entrapment operations. In the chart below you can see the whole unofficial structure, including the approximate place PIO and later EIM would have taken up in Belgian's anti-communist underground network.
EIM appears to be a real spider in Belgium's web of intrigue. This is what was written about EIM in the Beyond Dutroux article:
"It is known that [the fascist militant group] Westland New Post, under the leadership of Latinus remained in existence until 1984. And like Dossogne [head of other fascist, subversive groups], Latinus took orders from Jean Bougerol and his PIO intelligence group, if not the DIA directly (239).
"Like Front de la Jeunesse, PIO was officially disbanded in 1981. However, Bougerol and his group did not disappear. PIO was absorbed into a completely private entity named the European Institute of Management (EIM). Bougerol was followed up by none other than long-time ambassador Douglas MacArthur II (240), a nephew of the famous general and by this time a very close friend and business associate of Sun Myung Moon (241). Like PIO had controlled Front de la Jeunesse, so EIM remained in control of Latinus' Westland New Post and likely several other aspects of the fascist underground. Marcel Barbier, head of security of WNP, joined EIM (242). Just as interesting, gendarme colonel Rene Mayerus became administrative-director of EIM (243). Mayerus had been a co-founder of the Special Intervention Squadron (Diana Group), and was a close acquaintance of Jean Bougerol, not to mention WNP members Bouhouche and Wackenhut director Calmette (244). He referred people looking for a security expert to WNP head Paul Latinus (245). After his retirement Mayerus was suspected of having spied on the BOB in Brussels for EIM and to have recruited Bougerol into EIM (246)."
This is what I knew back in 2007 when Beyond Dutroux was written. The only source on the European Institute of Management I could find at the time was the 1998 book 'De namen uit de doofpot' ('The names from the cover up'), which stated that EIM took over the functions of PIO. In general the book appeared plenty reliable, but EIM appears to be such a crucial (and a bit unreal) aspect of the whole Beyond Dutroux article that more sources would definitely have been appreciated.
In hindsight, Herwig Lerouge's book, which has been used extensively for the Beyond Dutroux article, appears to have mentioned EIM too. But the earlier-mentioned recent article of George Zimmerman about the life of Prince Alexander de Rethy (his mother and several other family members have been accused of child abuse) really came up with interesting new information:
"The prince worked in the former colony for a firm part of the group of Michel Relecom, head of the brewery group Unibra, and at that moment one of the biggest Belgian private investors in Zaire. Unibra, that was controlled by the friends of VdB [Paul Vanden Boeynants], owned a peculiar firm, the European Institute of Management (EIM), an innocent sounding name behind which a private intelligence agency was hidden."
Years before this December 2009 article, De Morgen, Zimmerman's long-time newspaper, had already published an article that prominently mentioned the European Institute of Management. The January 2006 article was about a 30 floppy disks that had been found at the home of Madani Bouhouche (accused of child abuse), the most notorious gangster in Belgian history who two months before had been killed when a tree landed on his head. The floppy disks came in the possession of De Morgen and they were able to crack one of them. On it the newspaper found an extensive client database of the questionable private investigation firm Agence de Recherche et d'Information (ARI) which Bouhouche and his partner Bob Beijer had been running in 1984 and 1985.
It turns out that this was not the average nickel and dime firm. It had hundreds of customers from all walks of life. Etienne Davignon (Bilderberg chair; accused of child abuse) once referred a U.S. Diplomat to ARI and the lawyer Jean-Paul Dumont (accused of child abuse) brought in many clients. De Morgen repeated the information from the 1998 book 'De namen uit de doofpot' ('The names from the cover up') and added additional important details:
"The database irrefutably shows that the ARI maintained direct contact and carried out assignments for the American Embassy in Brussels and the Belgian branch of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). ...
"An old acquaintance on the list of clients of ARI is the Saudi secret service agent Faez El Ajjaz who gave himself out as a journalist. In the databank Bouhouche and Beijer link him to the Vernaillen affair (the attempted assassination on the gendarme major Herman Vernaillen), the WNP and the European Institute of Management. ...
"Still other customers of ARI were recommended by former-gendarme colonel Rene Mayerus, director of the European Institute of Management, also a private intelligence service, with a seat directly across the American Embassy on the Brussels Kunstlaan. Chairman of EIM was the former American ambassador in Brussels, Douglas MacArthur II, the son of the famous general from the second world war. Owner of EIM was the late Michel Relecom, businessman with interests in Zaire, confidante of president Mobutu and chairman of the Belgian-African Chamber of Commerce. At the time, EIM had several contracts with the government of Zaire. In Belgium, thanks to Mayerus, one of the contracts the peculiar firm received was from the Department of Foreign Affairs for the security of diplomatic gatherings and high level conferences in several castle domains of the department, as the Egmont Palace. Later Mayerus brought Bouhouche and Beijer in contact with the American commercial intelligence bureau International Intelligence Inc. (Intertel). At the request of Intertel, we learn from the database, ARI for example investigated a firm which had offices on the the Brussels Meeusplein, coincidentally directly across the headquarters at the time of State Security."
Interesting, ARI provides yet another link to the DEA and to the American Embassy in Brussels. However, it was already known that Bouhouche was a friend of DEA agent Jean-Francois Buslik, who was linked to the October 1981 Vernaillen and Goffinon assassination attempts. Buslik was a friend of "DEA" agent Frank Eaton, who in turn was one of the leaders of the criminal and subversive Group G cell within the gendarmerie. So with or without ARI, Bouhouche could already be tied to the DEA.
Also interesting is that Bouhouche and Beijer themselves link Faez El Ajjaz to the Vernaillen affair (investigated large scale drug trafficking accusation against the gendarmerie and one Paul Vanden Boeynants firms; both Vernaillen and his co-investigator survived assassination attempts), the WNP and EIM. One of Ajjaz's cars was used in the assassination attempts on Vernaillen and Goffinon. Bouhouche has always been one of the unofficial suspects in this affair, but at the time he himself headed the investigation into the attempt on Goffinon. Bouhouche had close ties to the WNP, headed by Paul Latinus (DIA; NATO; PIO; CEPIC; Group G leader; committed suicide), while Ajjaz's contact at the WNP was Latinus himself. From 1981 until Latinus was suicided in 1984, EIM was in control of WNP. So no surprises there too that Ajjaz was tied to EIM by ARI.
At the time Ajjaz claimed to be a journalist working for the AFP. In reality he appears to have been a Syrian in close contact with the Saudi royal family and several Middle Eastern terrorist groups. Ajjaz has been accused of working with Count Carl Armfelt, a CIA agent and WACL member in close contact with Vanden Boeynants and de Bonvoisin, in high tech military supplies to Israel, Libanon, Lybia, Iraq, the PLO, IRA, ETA, and underground militant groups in Belgium and Sweden. Other accusations against Armfelt include that he played a large role in setting up the CIA's stay-behind network in Scandinavia and that in the Netherlands he was involved in planning the countercoup in Suriname against Desi Bouterse. The countercoup failed, because Bouterse tortured and killed all the CIA, DIA, NSC and Dutch-backed countercoup operatives. In all likelihood, Ajjaz was one of many CIA-assets along the lines described in the Cercle Pinay article.
This article really gives a lot of credence that the head of EIM indeed was Douglas MacArthur II, who would have been across the street from the American Embassy. MacArthur's link to the Moony Cult has already been mentioned.
A very chilling aspect may be that this article clearly shows that Mayerus and Bouhouche were experts in securing castles and large estates. To explain, let's again quote from the Beyond Dutroux article:
"X1 identified Madani Bouhouche as the very violent driver of the BMW who took her to 'the factory' [ASCO of Roger Boas and Israeli army ties; contained a room for snuff and abuse sessions; Dumont, Vanden Boeynants, etc. went there] and Christian Amory [close associate of de Bonvoisin family and formerly the OAS terrorist, mercenary, and Wackenhut director Jean-Francis Calmette] as a sort of slave driver who brought her and her fellow victims to recording studios or parks where older men shot at hunted children. One of the colonels [that would be either Lhost or Mayerus] belonged to that group, X1 says. Her account about these kinds of hunting parties on human game, about which X2, X3, X4 and Nathalie W. later also speak, is by far the most controversial part of her testimony... One of the individuals that was recognized used to be a driver in a service [the Diana Group] that was headed by Lhost and was in the possession of heavy black BMWs [earlier reported having seen by X1]."
One of the places these hunting parties allegedly took place was around Chateau de Chimay (another possibility would be the Merode chateau) with such men as Paul Vanden Boeynants, Baron de Bonvoisin, and the Lippens brothers participating. If these events indeed took place, it's interesting to note that Colonel Mayerus, with help from men like Bouhouche, would be the perfect candidate to oversee security.
The really new revelation here, and possibly the most important, is that EIM was owned by Michel Relecom. Who is this person?

1001 Club
[Image: 1001_Michel_Relecom.gif]
1978 and 1987 1001 Club membership lists. First published by ISGP.
Reading that this Michel Relecom since at least 1981 was the kingpin of the special relationship between Belgium's big business establishment and Zaire's dictator Mobutu Sese Seko, and that he was chairman of the Belgian-African Chamber of Commerce, the first

thing that came to mind was that, like Mobutu, he might have been a member of the 1001 Club. And lo and behold, Relecom's name can be found on both the 1978 and 1987 membership lists of the 1001. As already discussed in another article, other Belgian members of the 1001 Club were Count Rene Boël (family member accused of trafficking in children; works closely with Solvay, Lippens, Davignon) , Pierre Solvay (family continually linked to child abuse), Baron Daniel Janssen (accused of trafficking in children; works closely with Solvay, Lippens, Davignon) and Count Leopold Lippens (accused of child abuse by multiple sources). In hindsight of the Beyond Dutroux article all these (interrelated) families are rather questionable. At least one non-authoritative source has stated that Relecom used to be a member of the aristocratic Cercle des Nations back in the 1970s and early 80s. Let's cite from the Beyond Dutroux article again:
"In 1969, Vanden Boeynants set up Cercle des Nations with a number of his political allies, including Baron de Bonvoisin and Paul Vankerkhoven (secretary-general of Otto von Habsburg's and Alfredo Sanchez Bella's CEDI; founder of the Belgian branch of the WACL, also in 1969). Cercle des Nations was a private, aristocratic club, which started out with about 80 members who generally were royalist, staunchly anti-communist, pro-Nato, pro-European integration and highly fascist. Examples of the Cercle's fascist tendencies include the April 1970 reception in honor of the fascist colonels that ruled Greece, the January 1976 celebration of the 10th anniversary of Papa Doc's Haitian dictatorship, and its magazine's continuous support for the apartheid in Africa, and the dictatorships of Pinochet, Franco and Salazar [add to this list Mobutu]. The Cercle has been tied to organized crime and more than a few of its most prominent members have been accused of child abuse and child murder. Think, for instance, of Baron de Bonvoisin, Paul Vanden Boeynants, Jean-Paul Dumont, Count Herve d'Ursel, Roger Boas, Charly De Pauw, Guy Mathot, Ado Blaton, General Rene Bats, Philippe Cryns and the de Merode family. ...
Interestingly, [Jean] Violet [founder of the international intelligence supergroup Cercle Pinay] is known to have been a member of Cercle des Nations ... It's probably no surprise to learn then that most, if not all, of these men, including Violet, belonged to Opus Dei and the Knights of Malta (261). It's also known that Violet, Vankerkhoven and Jonet worked closely with Otto von Habsburg (262)."

Going back to the 1001 for a minute, next to Relecom, Baron Laurent Wolters has also been added to ISGP's more detailed 1001 Club membership list. Wolters has been the long-time executive president-chairman of Belgium's national oil firm Petrofina. It was active worldwide, and also had an operation in Zaire in partnership with British Petroleum.

As it turns out, Baron Wolters's granddaughter has been married to Olivier Lippens, a cousin of the notorious Maurice and Leopold Lippens (both accused of child abuse by multiple sources) and son of Paul Lippens. Olivier is definitely not a stranger to his cousins, as Paul, Maurice and Olivier can be found on the board of Iscal Sugar. Besides that, Société Générale and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert (GBL) were the largest shareholders of Petrofina, followed by the Fortis Group and Sofina. Families as Lippens, Davignon and Boël, but also Selliers de Moranville and Janssen were running the banks with an interest in Petrofina. That's undoubtedly why Maurice Lippens' good friend Etienne Davignon (remember, accused of child abuse) used to be a vice president of Petrofina. All very familiar names, unfortunately.

Relecom has passed away, but in more recent years (2006) it is possible to find Relecom's wife, vice
president of Unibra, as member of the honorary committee of the Diner-Dialogue Belgium-Congo of SOS Children's Villages (SOS Kinderdorpen). Among the other dozen or so honorary members are Etienne Davignon and Olivier Lippens.
Patrice Lumbumba. First prime minister of an independent Zaire/Congo in 1960. CIA and Belgian intelligence sided with the mining and other corporations and first tried to breakaway Zaire's most important province, Katanga, headed by Moise Tshombe. This didn't last. Eventually a CIA trained and supported Mobutu overthrew Lumumba, and was tortured and mudered by this group. After some initial difficulties, 1001 Club member Michel Relecom later became a huge promoter of Mobutu, who really was a sadistic and ruthless dictator. Coincidentally, another 1001 Club member, diamond dealer Edgar Parser, who had top level CIA connections, was a huge promoter of Tshombe in the early 1960s, in direct opposition of President Kennedy. Parser wanted to become Ambassador to Belgium but failed. The 1001's founder, Prince Bernhard, also could get along with Mobutu very well.
EIM and Permindex
Possibly the best historical comparison to the European Institute of Management is the notorious Permindex that District Attorney Jim Garrison once tied to the Kennedy assassination. A brief comparison between the two:
  • Both Permindex and EIM were headed and-or owned by 1001 Club members, respectively Louis Bloomfield and Michel Relecom.
  • Both Permindex and EIM had numerous intelligence connections. Permindex to the CIA, FBI, and Mossad through Louis Bloomfield, and more specifically to the CIA alone through Clay Shaw, Guy Banister (associated with Permindex board members), and reports in the Italian media. EIM has been discussed above.
  • Both Permindex and EIM were staffed with very hard-right and anti-communist personnel.
  • Both Permindex and EIM have been tied to assassinations or assassination attempts. Permindex to De Gaulle and JFK. EIM to Vernaillen and Goffinon.
  • Permindex was tied to the OAS and assassination attempts on De Gaulle. Jean-Francis Calmette, Belgium's Wackenhut director and very close to EIM leadership, used to be an OAS terrorist.
  • Both Permindex and EIM board members or personnel have been accused of running child abuse networks. About Roy Cohn, board member of Permindex, it was said (see Beyond Dutroux): "According to the former head of the vice squad for one of America’s biggest cities, 'Cohn's job was to run the little boys. Say you had an admiral, a general, a congressman, who did not want to go along with the program. Cohn’s job was to set them up, then they would go along. Cohn told me that himself.'" According to Garrison, Shaw and Banister worked together with David Ferrie, who is said to have been a homosexual pedophile (and had studied to become a priest). EIM has been discussed above.

This brought back memories from the early 70s when I watched one of the most frightening movies I've ever watched.A film by Peter Watkins titled "Punishment Park".It was so controversial that it was only shown on some collage campuses at the time. The plot being America in a full blown police state, with dissidents being tried in court, and given the choice of long prison sentences or a "run to freedom" in the California desert. Those who chose the desert were hunted down by California cops.It was absolutley chilling.I have never heard anything more about this film, and thought it was probably supressed.I just did a search, and found out that it has been released on DVD recently.Below is a link that gives a review of this movie.

:afraid:

Peter Watkins is a very important filmmaker who was silenced.

He made The War Game, a very powerful anti-nuclear war film for the BBC in 1965, and it was judged way too subversive and suppressed by a combination of BBC management and the British government.

Here is Peter Watkins on those shameful, but entirely predictable, events:

Quote:The War Game
U.K.

Background
BY LATE 1964 Harold Wilson’s newly elected Labour Government had already broken its election manifesto to unilaterally disarm Britain, and was in fact developing a full-scale nuclear weapons programme, in spite of wide-spread public protest. There was a marked reluctance by the British TV at the time to discuss the arms race, and there was especially silence on the effects of nuclear weapons - about which the large majority of the public had absolutely no information. I therefore proposed to the BBC that - using one small corner of Kent in southeastern England to represent a microcosm - I make a film showing the possible effects, during an outbreak of war between NATO and the USSR, of a nuclear strike on Britain.

At that precise moment the BBC was undergoing a power struggle, a ‘night of the long knives’ - someone very senior had been fired, someone else had quit in support, and Huw Wheldon was pushed two notches up the Corporation’s hierarchical ladder to the position of Controller of BBC 2. He was no longer the Head of the Documentary Film Department, and, at the worst possible time, his personal backing was suddenly gone. The BBC read the script of ‘The War Game’, reluctantly agreed to give me a budget, but warned that the film might not be completed. This warning was a result of the British Home Office (in charge of Civil Defence, into which the government was pouring great amounts of money and propaganda) having telephoned the BBC to inquire why I was making a film on this subject. As part of my research, I had sent a letter to the Home Office inquiring how many hospital beds, etc. the Civil Defence would be able to provide following an all-out nuclear strike on the UK, and this had naturally prompted their query to the BBC.

Filming
The filming took place in early 1965, in the Kent towns of Tonsbridge, Gravesend, Chatham and Dover. Once again the cast was almost entirely made up of amateurs, found via a series of public meetings throughout Kent some months earlier. Much of the filming, including the scenes of the firestorm, was done in a disused military barracks in Dover. The crew included cinematographer Peter Bartlett, sound recordist Derek Williams, make-up artist Lilian Munro, action co-ordinator Derek Ware, set designers Tony Cornell and Anne Davey, costumer Vanessa Clarke, and editor Michael Bradsell. I repeated the “you-are-there” style of newsreel immediacy. My purpose, as in ‘Culloden’, was to involve ‘ordinary people’ in an extended study of their own history - only this time the subject involved potentially imminent events, for the threat of full-scale nuclear war was a very real one at that time. There was, however, an important stylistic difference in this film. Interwoven among scenes of ‘reality’ were stylized interviews with a series of ‘establishment figures’ - an Anglican Bishop, a nuclear strategist, etc. The outrageous statements by some of these people (including the Bishop) - in favour of nuclear weapons, even nuclear war - were actually based on genuine quotations. Other interviews with a doctor, a psychiatrist, etc. were more sobre, and gave details of the effects of nuclear weapons on the human body and mind. In this film I was interested in breaking the illusion of media-produced ‘reality’. My question was - “Where is ‘reality’? ... in the madness of statements by these artificially-lit establishment figures quoting the official doctrine of the day, or in the madness of the staged and fictional scenes from the rest of my film, which presented the consequences of their utterances?”- and to that end I consistently inter-cut said interviews. Obviously beyond and above the question of form was my concern to use the film to help people break the silence in the media on the nuclear arms race.

Banning
The BBC panicked when they first saw the film, and sought government consultation re showing it. They subsequently denied this, but the sad fact remains that the BBC violated their own Charter of Independence, and on September 24, 1965, secretly showed ‘The War Game’ to senior members of the Home Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Post Office (in charge of telecommunications), a representative of the Military Chiefs of Staff, and Sir Burke Trend, Secretary to Harold Wilson’s Cabinet. Approximately six weeks later, the BBC announced that they were not going to broadcast the film on TV - and denied that their decision had anything to do with the secret screening to the government. To this day, the BBC formally deny that the banning of ‘The War Game’ was due to pressure by the government, but a review of now available documents reveals that there was (is) much more to this affair than was admitted publicly.

Marginalization
What is even less known publicly, are the measures the BBC then took to marginalize me as a filmmaker, both within and outside my profession. At the height of the scandal, with questions being asked in Parliament re whether the Government had in fact pressured the independent TV company, many of the public wrote to the BBC asking them to show the film. In December 1965, two days before Christmas, the BBC took the unprecedented step of publishing an open letter to the public, the first paragraph of which implied that ‘The War Game’ had been banned as an artistic failure! Their exact - and very sneaky words - were as follows: “There was an element of experiment in this project, as in much broadcast production. Such programme experiments sometimes fail and have to be put on one side at some stage in production, even though money has been spent on them. They are, nevertheless, a necessary part of the development of broadcasting, and such failures as may occur are the price we must expect to pay if new forms and subjects are to be brought within the compass of television.” (The startling hypocrisy of this statement was highlighted by the BBC’s eagerness a few months later to collect the Academy Award for Best Documentary - for ‘The War Game’.)

At about the same time, the BBC further attempted to deliberately blacken my name: the BBC evening news announced that I had deliberately used trip wires hidden in the heather to make my actors fall during the filming of ‘Culloden’ [!!] I believe that the context was that of an accusation by ‘Equity’, the British actors’ union (who were angry that I had used non-professional actors). This accusation was stated in solemn tones by the BBC news reader, in the midst of other world-news items. There was no attempt by the BBC itself to refute this accusation. I immediately called the newsroom, and asked if they had verified these facts by checking with the cast in Scotland? There was dead silence. I then told the senior news producer that if the BBC did not immediately retract this lie, I would come down the following day and dismantle the TV Centre, brick by brick. The BBC announced a retraction the following evening.

These episodes expose the primitive and almost desperate extent to which TV organizations will go to defend their hierarchical power regarding what the public sees. Specifically - including in respect to what later happened with ‘Edvard Munch’ and ‘La Commune’ - the usage of the rationale of ‘artistic failure’, which TV organizations are fully prepared to use in order to suppress or marginalize films which they do not want the public to see. This has been a recurring motif in the suppression of my own work. In the words of one senior official who was explaining to me in the autumn of 1965 how difficult it was for the BBC to show ‘The War Game’: “Let’s face it, Peter, your film is less than a masterpiece ...” - the identical ‘logic’ used by La Sept ARTE in France, to suppress ‘La Commune’ in 2000.

Following their decision to ban ‘The War Game’, and despite - or perhaps because of - growing public outcry, the BBC organized a series of private screenings at the British Film Institute’s National Film Theatre during a week in February, 1966. Invited to see the film were carefully selected representatives of the British Establishment, members of the armed forces and Civil Defence, parliamentarians, and defence and military affairs correspondents; film journalists were not allowed into the cinema. Also not allowed were the public, who were denied entry by a phalanx of BBC security guards standing elbow to elbow in a long line in front of the cinema. The BBC undoubtedly hoped to use these unabashedly elitist screenings in order to consolidate its decision to ban ‘The War Game’, by gaining the approval of its colleagues in the Establishment. Evidently this they did - even among sufficient numbers of the press. Sir Hugh Carleton Greene, Director General of the BBC, subsequently rejected a request by Mrs. Renee Short (Labour Member of Parliament), that the BBC should arrange a public screening of the film, on the grounds that the weight of press opinion was against the public showing of ‘The War Game’. I also read a letter from Hugh Greene (which I presumably should not have seen) confirming that their intention was to banish the film to a vault after the screenings at the NFT; I recall a phrase to the effect that, “we will have fulfilled our obligation to show the film”.

Reaction
The role of the British press in this affair was very mixed, with military and defence journalists condemning ‘The War Game’ for its ‘ban-the-Bomb propaganda’, and a number of film and TV journalists stating that the film should be shown. Some journalists wrote that the film should be seen as widely as possible, others that it should be seen only in controlled circumstances such as private film societies, and others that it should be suppressed altogether. Overall, Sir Hugh Carleton Greene was right about the weight of press opinion: The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail, Daily Express, Daily Mirror, Daily Sketch, Sun and London evening papers all supported the ban, and although the Sunday papers brought the percentage in favour of the BBC down, the clear majority of the mainstream press were for suppressing ‘The War Game’.

‘YES, THE BBC ARE RIGHT TO BAN THIS .... the only possible effect of showing it to the British public at large would be ... to raise more unilateral disarmament recruits.’ (Defence Correspondent, Evening News)

‘BRILLIANT. BUT IT MUST STAY BANNED. It is a brilliant film, a brutal film. But I would never let any son of mine see it ... I object to this film because it is propagandistic and negative in its approach, politically calculated in its effect. What producer Peter Watkins has made here is not a film about The Bomb, but a plea to ban it ... It excluded hope. In that I judge it to be irresponsible. It excluded any reasoned argument on why we must have The Bomb. The powers-that-be have the right to censor ‘The War Game’, for it is a game to be played seriously and responsibly. It is better left to the powers-that-be than to Mr. Peter Watkins.’ (Daily Sketch)

‘WHAT DOES IT REALLY ACHIEVE? It is hard to argue with Mr. Watkins’ appalling predictions. Nobody can accuse him of exaggerating the effects of nuclear war. Nuclear war cannot be exaggerated. Perhaps he cannot even be accused of hysteria. Nuclear war may entitle him to hysteria. But throughout ‘The War Game’ there is not a glimmer of human resilience. And humans are incredibly, wonderfully resilient ... All ‘The War Game’ has to offer is a screen of protest and blame. Not an opportunity is missed for a sneer at the Civil Defence or the Church.’ (The Sun)

‘MUDDLE-MINDED MR. WATKINS. This monstrous misrepresentation so accurately mirrors the claims of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament that it is a mystery how the BBC was induced to put up 10,000 pounds to make the film, which could more accurately be called ‘The C.N.D. Game.’ (Daily Express)

‘ONE BAN THE BBC NEED NOT HAVE DEFENDED ... the real horror is the stark documentary quality of the film. It reproduces with sickening realism charred limbs, crushed faces and eyes melting in their sockets. This, as the BBC rightly decided, could not have been borne by the millions of viewers sitting at home.’ (Daily Mirror)

‘The film is the most sickening in the world today and one the public should never see.’ (Manchester Evening News)

‘The BBC is failing in its duty in keeping it from the public ... packed with things people have forgotten or not bothered to read.’ (Leicester Mercury)

‘Shocking ... leaves the impression of sadness and madness.’ (Oxford Mail)

‘Horrifying, but so also would be a nuclear war.’ (Evening Mail, Birmingham)

‘THIS FILM MUST BE SHOWN ... No wonder the Establishment wants to stop the film being widely shown. If several million people saw it, the campaign for the banning of nuclear weapons would receive an enormous impetus.’ (The Daily Worker)

‘A WARNING MASTERPIECE. It may be the most important film ever made. We are always being told that works of art cannot change the course of history. Given wide enough discrimination, I believe this one might ...‘The War Game’ stirred me at a level deeper than panic or grief ... It precisely communicates one man’s vision of disaster, and I cannot think that it is diminished as art because the vision happens to correspond with the facts. Like Michelangelo’s ‘Last Judgement’, it proposes itself as an authentic documentary image of the wrath to come - though Michelangelo was working from data less capable of verification.’ (Film and theatre critic, The Observer)

Availability

Culloden’ (1964) and ‘The War Game’ (1965), were both produced for the BBC, who still retain the rights. Although both films have been available for some years on DVD, until fairly recently it has been difficult to obtain these films for theatrical screenings. This was - and partly remains - related to restrictions imposed by the British Actors' union, Equity on the use of amateur actors, which has always caused difficulties for the release of my BBC work. This situation is becoming a little more flexible, and the BBC is now open to allowing the films to be screened theatrically under certain circumstances.

France
'Culloden' (La Bataille du Culloden’) and 'The War Game' (La Bombe') are available on DVD and non-theatrical release from Doriane Films in Paris. These versions are in the original English with French subtitles. Please contact:

The original film material of ‘The War Game’ and ‘Culloden’ is stored in the archives at the British Film Institute in London. These films are much in need of restoration, especially where it concerns striking new prints of ‘Culloden’. In fact, I doubt that there are any usable 16mm copies of ‘Culloden’ remaining, though perhaps a few prints of ‘The War Game’ have survived.

Thanks for the stuff on Peter Watkins Jan.

I confess I was only vaguely aware of the guy and the controversy over 'The War Game".

Anyway I've just spent over an hour on his website and all I can say is 'WOW'.

It's people and initiatives like that, that give me some hope that the morass of conformist, war-mongering, environment-destroying, big-brother-fearing, passively-consuming, stupidity that we in the West are sinking ever deeper into - and dragging the rest of the world with us - may somehow be reversed.

Then I wake up and realise just what an overwhelmingly forlorn hope that really is.

I am personally finding it more and more difficult to stir myself to work towards such a reversal - a nobel exercise in futility is how it increasingly appears to me. The trajectory of the developing Orwellian nightmare is fixed and it just gets worse and worse. As Peter Watkins points out so lucidly on that site, it is actually built into the very structure that almost ALL productions with any prospect of a mass audience must conform - and content becomes almost incidental when form is so rigidly dictated.

Inspiring and depressing in equal measure.

Talk:EIMConsult censored video

Note on the video the link at 6:40 minutes which takes you from the first company, EIM GROUP, (European Institute of Management) to the Google search engine and the second company, EIM GROUP, (European Investment Managers). The title has been typed into the subject bar: 'EIM GROUP'. There is, so far, no explanation how the link between the two companies occurred.

These two companies were founded in different years.

According to http://www.pehi.eu/dutroux/Belgian_X_dos...ccused.htm European Institute of Management was founded about 1981:

After the death of CEPIC in 1981, PIO was reorganized into the possibly even more influential European Institute of Management (EIM). Col. Rene Mayerus, a good friend of Major Jean Bougerol (the protege of de Bonvoisin and Vanden Boeynants and accused by X1 of being involved in the child abuse network) became administrative-director of EIM.

However, European Investment Managers was founded by Arpad Busson in 1992: from: http://www.eimgroup.com/jahia/page26.html

1992: Mr. Arpad Busson founded EIM S.A. in Switzerland to facilitate construction and management of tailor-made funds and portfolios of hedge funds.

There is little about the chairman of the first company, Jean-Pierre Etter, on the internet.
Apparently European Institute of Management (in the UK) has told people on ringing that they have the wrong number, and it seems the details on their website are for a registered office, rather than their own premises.

If this is the same Jean-Pierre Etter, he was associated with the Rylander case: from: http://www.prevention.ch/rye060904.pdf

7. Mr. Jean-Pierre Etter, associate at the Institute for Social and Preventive Medicine................
.........While listing various positions held by Prof. Rylander as expert and adviser, these make no mention of his links with the tobacco industry.
The interviews held with Professors Jeanneret and Rougemont as well as with Dr. Jean-Pierre Etter show that Ragnar Rylander enjoyed a very good reputation: he was seen as a productive researcher and appreciated as a teacher. His personal charisma and the influence he exercised over those working with him helped to provide him with considerable freedom of action within the Institute for Social and Preventive Medicine, all the more so since that was not his main place of affiliation. His ability to attract outside funding was known but it was actually favourably viewed, given the modest means at the disposal of preventive medicine

A Jean-Pierre Etter has also written a book: 'Start small, grow big, stay human and conquer the world.'

The website www.eimconsult.com now no longer exists. European Institute of Management can now be found here: http://www.parabolic.be/eim/whoweare_eim_uk.htm

The chairman of European Investment Managers, Arpad Busson, is found frequently on the internet.

This comment was made with respect to the EIM Group and Arpad Busson,in the mainstream media:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/ar...ge_id=1770

EIM is reckoned to have about £5.5 billion under management. But available accounts reveal next to nothing.
The firm's figures are consolidated in Luxembourg and are not released to the public. Neither is Busson's client list although we know EIM has had dealings with the wealthy Bin Laden Saudi Arabian clan, albeit not with Osama Bin Laden himself.

Since Arpad Busson is also chairman of 'ARK', which now controls schools in the UK, transparency would be appropriate, and clarification of the situation between these companies with appropriate records being made available
