Leaving her alone serves what purpose?
If she has case-cracking witnessing she should be forced to do it like any other witness.
Obviously the reason it is important to get Girl X to talk is because she spelled the whole thing out to her mother who then warned Johnson. Which means Girl X understood the danger. Girl X understood the government men she saw Oswald with had something to do with the assassination which is why Phillips was worried if they had a camera. I've seen this in other research. A serious witness uses their spouse or family as an excuse not to talk.
In the first version Veciana could have been deliberately omitting the Johnson encounter in order not to implicate others.
