David Mantik's Definitive look at the Harper Fragment
#31
And yet isn't it amusing how far some researchers will go to make the wound seem higher (more forward) in the skull?

Its worse than that. Its deeply troubling.

This is why I am trying to give Mantik a lot of play.

He will b ein BOR soon to discuss this article.

Which, BTW, was hell to get up there because of all the illustrations.

But I think its worth it. Because I think his work plus Gary Aguilar's on all the suppressed witness reports have pretty much sealed the deal.

The actual location of the occipital bone is confusing, as it is a spade shaped bone extending a ways up in the centre of the back of the skull, but its borders with the parietal bone run downward to each side; giving the impression, from some views, that the entire occipital bone resides quite low in the back of the skull.

One of the best diagrams for determining its location is this one from the HSCA:

If you look just under the bullet entrance hole depicted by the HSCA, you can see the apex point of the occipital bone. The squiggly line running downward on an angle to a place well behind the ear is where the occipital and parietal bone join.

Mr. HILL. The right rear portion of his head was missing. It was lying in the rear seat of the car. His brain was exposed. There was blood and bits of brain all over the entire rear portion of the car. Mrs. Kennedy was completely covered with blood. There was so much blood you could not tell if there had been any other wound or not, except for the one large gaping wound in the right rear portion of the head.

And therefore the shard shown in the Dox drawing is clearly NOT occipital bone. According to that diagram, the entire shard was originally located forward of the occiput. In Part 1 of his article, Dr. Mantik wrote:

The original identification (of HF as occipital) was made by three Dallas pathologists; Jack C. Harper, Gerard Noteboom, and A. B. Cairns (chief of pathology for Methodist Hospital).

Whatever other complexities may be involved in this issue, the Dox drawing by itself illustrates how the Harper Fragment's original location in JFK's skull was moved forward by the HSCA and many subsequent WC loyalists, at least compared to its original identification as occipital by three Dallas pathologists.

Thank you for posting these diagrams. They are extremely clear.
