Paul Schrade on second gunman in RFK shooting
#41
She doesn't look like the police artist sketch....I read some of the pieces on Ainsworth, i'm not convinced at all but i am absolutely not an expert on this subject.
Whatever really happened (hypnosis or not), this person would appear to be the key to what happened. So many people say they saw her and she appeared to be with Sirhan.
Bill Pepper mentioned (on Black Op Radio???) a couple of years back that they thought they knew who she was and she was still alive which rules out Ainsworth who died in 1968.

If she is still alive they are probably not naming her because of libel laws. Can say what you like about the dead.
"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it." Karl Marx

"He would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies. When asked in court whether she knew that Lord Astor had denied having sex with her.

“I think it would be a good idea” Ghandi, when asked about Western Civilisation.

True but if they were 100% certain of her identity maybe a libel case would be a way to have evidence presented in court. That's probably simplistic on my part.
Despite RFK Jnr's letter and Paul Schrade speaking out again I cannot see any way for Sirhan to get anything approaching a retrial/parole unless the idea of approaching the Innocence Project works out.
It'll be interesting to see what Bill Pepper says when he next appears on Black Op Radio. I believe Len was intending to have him as a guest shortly after the parole hearing.

Joseph McBride Wrote:I read a Facebook post by another researcher stating that Lisa Pease
is going to write in her book on the RFK shooting that Sirhan
was shooting blanks. Is there any more information on this? It
would mean there was a third shooter besides Sirhan and Cesar.

Reading Facebook Mr McBride, I was kinda hoping you'd be working on The Other Side Of The Wind !

The forensic evidence supports bullets coming from Sirhan's side.

Ashley,

I haven't been involved with that project (other than to give advice) since I and cinematographer
Gary Graver made the $3 million deal with Showtime in 1998 to finish and produce the film, and I was
then fired by Oja Kodar and Peter Bogdanovich. More recently, the much-ballyhooed deal the
new producers have made with Kodar (as reported in the New York Times) has fallen apart over her ongoing demands
for more money and other changes in the deal. It's tragic, since the producers have a company
willing to put up the money, but she won't sign the contract, further proof that she
just doesn't want the film to come out, for reasons that remain obscure. I think it's criminal to block a work by a major artist.

sorry to divert from the topic at hand everyone
I agree Joseph and it's a very sad situation. Technically I'm an investor in it now as well via the net funding campaign. I felt very optimistic at the time but once again hopes have been dashed. It's all very depressing. I think Orson's work continues to win new admirers (like myself) and indeed we do love him now he's dead ! I really hope Other Side Of The Wind happens eventually. It can never be what Orson envisaged but like Brian Wilson Presents Smile, I'm sure something truly worthwhile can be salvaged from the pieces.
Anyway, thanks for the reply Joseph. I've got a deep sea diving expedition to go on....that Ambersons cut must be on the seabed somewhere.

Since I'm between multimedia jobs here in Melbourne I was debating setting up a (cheap! - but genuine) Kickstarter or GoFundMe to fly to Brazil, take up lodgings for a month there, and search for it. It's unlikely that I will for the moment due to work and health reasons, but there was a lead.

From Simon Callow's Hello Americans:

Quote:'A curious postcript to the Brazilian adventure is a persistent rumour that the copy of The Magnificent Ambersons - the answer print that RKO had shipped out to him in Rio - is still there. David Kamp in the magazine Vanity Fair traced its progress through the man who was the head of Cinedia, Adhemar Gonzaga, a film collector 'before it was common to be so'. Gonzaga got to know Welles, of course, in 1942. When Welles left, Gonzaga wired RKO to ask what he should do with the copy. They telegraphed him, telling him to destroy it; he duly replied: PRINT DESTROYED. But was it? Gonzaga's daughter, now head of Cinedia, has searched for it but found nothing, though she points out that it may be in there somewhere, mis-filed. Josh Greenberg went to Brazil in 1994 and 1996 and found nothing, but he did meet a man who claimed to have seen it in the nineteen-sixties, after which it disappeared. 'We pursued some leads, even talking about tracking it through gypsies,' says Greenberg, 'but after that we kind of ran out of leads.'

Alice Gonzaga is active on Facebook. It could be done, but I did note a forum post from some guy in Brazil who told the forum "No, it's not at Cinedia", without explaining how or why he was sure. Kermode found the missing scenes from Ken Russell's THE DEVILS after he went to a Warner vault and physically searched for them himself, so stranger things have happened. If any one movie would be enough to make someone try the attempt, it's that one.

at the risk of turning this into a meeting of the Orson Welles Fan Club....there were a lot of Orson film cans in the UCLA archive that hadn't been gone through properly. Don't know if that's still the case but they related to It's All True iirc which is (obviously) the right period. I remember seeing their online inventory and dreaming that the Ambersons ballroom scene and other cut material was in one of them. I am an expert dreamer !
