Geoblocking is such a pain in the proverbial. Anyway, yes I had watched that episode and the next 2 with the third being a bit too whacky for my tastes. Episodes 1 & 2 were okay though. Of all the X Files shows the one that stands as the most telling, for me, was the one that predicted 9/11 - and in considerable detail.

This is why I put this episode up. It unleashes the entire plot that was only hinted at throughout the old series: depopulation by an elite cabal who are saved by alien gene intervention.

I referenced this episode for the very reason you mention -- the all too prescient prediction of 9/11.

Thanks for that Lauren. Yes, it was Lone Gunmen I was thinking of.

The Jay Dyer read was interesting too. I was a little surprised he didn't include on his list the subject of humanoid robots. Because speaking bluntly, fuck the off-world hypothesis, the on-world growing reality of robots replacing humans in the work place strike me as a far more significant - and even sinister - development.

According to Oxford University, almost 50% of jobs in all industrialized nations will be at risk from automatons. The danger with that, of course - assuming it turns out to be true - is who needs a very large population of... what Kissinger is credited with saying "useless eaters" (although i can't see that he ever did). I rather suspect this is an urban legend that grew out of Kissinger's 1974 document NSSM 200 that was focused on world food supplies and population figures.

And since we're on the wild side here, the thought that 50% of the industrialized nations jobs being done by robots must raise concerns. The film ex-Machina also speaks to this matter. If this ever comes about and assuming the world we live in remains much the way it is economically, where recently Oxfam calculated that the richest 85 people in the world have as much wealth as the poorest 3.6 billion - then I don't see those 85 people handing around their wealth to save the starving.

In the last analysis, I wonder if series like the X Files are made in order to gather feedback on wargaming ideas? Just a thought really.

Along a similar line to this, the way Facebook seemed to go out of it's way a while ago, to off & piss people by treading on their toes in what seemed to be accepted as some sort of dodgy experiment; I kinda think this was perhaps a set-up to gather a pool of ppl - angersome types at having the piss taken - to set the AI dogs 'n' trolls onto, to compartmentalise & get those checkbox's ticked - to set them up potentially, for what I'm getting. This thing the upper-tier cops in Brit have (from the horses mouth on a recentish Channel4 6parter on ppl evading the cops for a lark) of "escalate to deescalate" (ep5 I think; he said a couple of interesting things, basically, "wind them up" (with overt bugging, eyes-on, ID theft, property destruction & etc.), and this is very much the tactic they've used on me) seems absolutely consistant with this approach. To consider or accept that possibility, you have to accept technological capabilities, which are new to our history, but are in existence.

There are some ppl who wield a big and broad hammer and are insanely evangelical in their zealous & pathological enthusiasm, like Mengele - for scientific 'research'.
