* Hoover's "piss boy" lol...
It's amazing how Von Pein tries to make a case that CBS showed the other side and everything was normal. I guess CBS fired Feinman because they were unfairly accused by him. Poor victims firing an aggressor because he was bullying them.

Alvarez turned out to be a total flunky.
From what I understand, Tink Thompson has some great stuff on this guy that he is saving for the drastic revision of SSD, tentatively titled "One Second in Dallas."
One the JFK case, he did this "jiggle analysis", "jet effect" and then he instantly put together a panel to discredit the HSCA acoustics.
BTW, the giveaway very early was the fact that the CBS lawyer Huddleson told Midgley and Gordon Manning to use Alvarez even before the show was in production! That tells you reams about Alvarez.

Harold Weisberg called Lattimer a "right-wing fanatic...Urological complications not having been involved in JFK's assassination, Lattimer was not qualified under the terms of the [Kennedy family's] contract. What qualified him to the Nixon/Rhoads operation was the character of his extremist writing, which was both political and irrelevant to the fact." (Whitewash IV 9) One of Lattimer's hobbies was collecting Jack Ruby memorabilia, including notes, scribblings and drawings. Lattimer had them analyzed by other experts and they came to the conclusion that Ruby was "avenging the Jews in the gas chambers and not JFK" when he shot Oswald. They also found he was obssessive-compulsive and probably a latent homosexual. (Ruby Cover-up 321-23)
Alvarez developed the "jet effect" to explain the movement of JFK's head. I do think he was onto something with the jiggle analysis, but as you said, he ignored several of them. Alvarez was so much in bed with the national security establishment, he was a perfect example of the "hired gun" expert they like to use.
********
Mary Ferrell tried to sell me on the idea that the Lattimer book
was authoritative on the medical evidence, a recommendation I found suspicious per se.

From Wikipedia:
Lattimer was assigned to the prisoner's barracks at Nuremberg in the spring of 1945, where notorious inmates like Hermann Göring were housed during their war crimes trial. Lattimer served as general medical officer during the Nuremberg Trials, attending to the medical needs of the war crimes defendants.[SUP]

Lattimer was on hand at Nuremberg prison to view Göring's body just after Göring had committed suicide in his prison cell by biting a cyanide capsule that he had kept concealed in a jar of medicinal cream.

Good articles, Jim.
The first major CBS-TV program on the assassination of President Kennedy (aside from the breaking news
coverage) followed hard upon -- it was THE LAW AND LEE OSWALD, broadcast Dec. 29, 1963. It was
hosted by Dan Rather. It can be seen at the Paley Center for Media in
NY and LA. There is a transcript in David Belin's papers at the Gerald Ford
Library. I saw this program years ago and don't remember much about it.

PALEY CENTER: THE LAW AND LEE OSWALD (TV) SUMMARY
This special program examines the issue of a citizen's right to a fair trial, and focuses on the debate as to whether Lee Harvey Oswald would have been deprived of that right, had he been tried for the assassination of President Kennedy. The question "should the criminal go free because the constable has blundered?" is discussed by Prof. Paul Freund of the Harvard Law School, Leon Douglas, state's prosecuting attorney before the Texas Court of Criminal appeals, Percy Foreman, president of the National Association of Defense Attorneys, and Newton Minow, former chairman of the FCC. The release of information to the press public is a central issue.

Nice find Joe.
I never even heard of that one.
I wonder why no one mentions it.
But it clearly assumes that Oswald was guilty again.

Last night, Len Osanic and I did a whole BOR show based on this essay.

I think it came out well.
That two parter was getting almost 1800 views per day. Bob Parry liked it so much he adapted it to his site.
