This film explores the evolution of propaganda and public relations in the United States, with an emphasis on the "elitist theory of democracy" and the relationship between war, propaganda and class.
Includes original interviews with a number of dissident scholars including Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Michael Parenti, Peter Phillips ("Project Censored"), John Stauber ("PR Watch"), Christopher Simpson ("The Science of Coercion") and others.
I found an interview with the filmaker for those interested - http://v-radioblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/...noble.html

Hello,
This is Scott Noble from Metanoia Films. http://metanoia-films.org/
Just wanted to give a heads up that I will be releasing my new film in the next few days. It will be debuting on the website Films for Action. I will send out another email as soon as it's online.
My new series is entitled "Plutocracy" ('Political Repression in the USA').
Part I covers Shay's Rebellion; the Constitution; the Civil War draft riots; the Irish American experience; Reconstruction; the black codes, Jim Crow and the KKK; ethnic cleansing in the Southwest; the Mexican American experience; industrialization; the robber barons; the birth of the police; political machines; and the major labor unions and battles of the mid to late 19th Century, including the 1877 rebellion, the Haymarket affair, Homestead, Pullman and the New Orleans general strike. The introduction explores the West Virginian coal mining wars of the early 20th Century, culminating in the Battle of Blair mountain.
Part I is titled Divide et Impera (Divide and Rule), and as per above focusses extensively (though not exclusively) on the way American workers were/are divided on the basis of race, ethnicity, language, sex and skill level.
This is the first film, to my knowledge, to comprehensively examine early American history through the lens of class. Though some may falsely view it as an attack on "America," it is actually a celebration of the dignity, spirit and courage of the American working class. I even give the Founding Fathers a fair shake.
In Part II, which I hope to release in approximately four months, I will explore the following:
The Coeur d'Alene strike; the Lattimer massacre; women's suffrage and suffrage in general; the populist party; the socialist party; the progressive movement; the industrial workers of the world (IWW); IWW free speech fights in Fresno, San Diego and the Pacific Northwest; the anarchist propaganda by the deed; the assassination of William McKinley; the anarchist exclusion act; Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman; the modernization of the police; the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire; the Lawrence textile strike; the Ludlow massacre; WWI and the sedition act; the persecution of anti-war voices; the lynchings of Frank Little and Joe Hill; the green corn rebellion; the red scare; and the Seattle General strike.
Some of you may have wondered why it took me so long to release my new film. The main reason is that I switched to HD, so I had to re-interview everyone and create a whole new clip library. The good news is that I have compiled a sufficient amount of footage that I will be able to release Parts II and III in fairly short order, probably about four months apart. After that I intend to release the first few entries of "Anarkos", then return to "Plutocracy" and finish the final two instalments.
That brings me to the question of whether there will be subsequent entries. To complete Part I had to do several fundraisers, a process I despise. After a while you begin to feel like a beggar. So I have set up a Patreon account that allows for monthly donations. I'm hoping to achieve $800 a month, but that may be overly optimistic. This amount will allow me to only perform one fundraiser a year and be done with it. Most documentaries cost at least a hundred thousand dollars, and some have budgets in the millions. I manage to make mine for less than $10,000 each.

If you would like a copy of "Plutocracy" I would be happy to send a DVD for a suggested minimum donation of $25. Unlike my previous efforts, which have been lacking in video quality, Plutocracy looks pretty sharp and would be well suited to big screen TV's and theatres. It would also serve as an ideal film for labour history and other courses. I'm completely broke at the moment so DVD requests are more than welcome.
I have given Films for Action, an excellent organization, exclusive screening rights for Plutocracy for the next few months.
The sources will be available at metanoia-films.org/plutocracy
Ordinarily I seek out acclaim quotes and produce a trailer, but I figured this time I'd just go ahead and release the film. I may update the website with quotes and a trailer in a few weeks.
Thank you so much to everyone who donated to help this film happen, and/or who contributed in another way. I couldn't do it without you.
Film should be online by Wed. or so.
In solidarity,
Scott Noble

Wake UP! indeed. Unfortunately, in the US, most people who begin to wake up in the slightest way, either immediately crap their pants and run like they're being chased by a cheetah, or fling poo at everything within reach.
Those who must silence others for speaking the truth cannot be innocent.
