Under Cover of Kavanaugh, GOP Gave the Rich Another Huge Handout

[Image: 5645175542_fa12ab159f_b-850x585.jpg]frankieleon
While Americans were transfixed by Senate hearings over Brett Kavanaugh's alleged sexual assaults, House Republicans quietly passed another enormous tax handout for the wealthiest Americans.
Round one of this giveaway cost $2 trillion. Round two is even bigger it would explode the deficit by more than $3 trillion. And once again, it's largely a giveaway to the wealthiest Americans and could mean devastating service cuts for ordinary people.
President Trump claimed the first tax plan would be "rocket fuel" for the economy, but there's no evidence it's done anything to improve the economic wellbeing of working families.
The centerpiece of the first plan was a massive tax cut for corporations. The corporate tax rate was reduced by 40 percent, plus a $400 billion tax break for multinational corporations on their trillions in accumulated offshore profits.
So it's not surprising corporate profits leaped by over 16 percent in the second quarter of this year compared to the same three months last year the best showing in six years. Meanwhile corporate tax payments are on schedule to come in $120 billion lower than in 2017.
But corporations aren't sharing their winnings.
Trump guaranteed working families a $4,000 raise if corporate taxes were cut. Yet average real wages have been stagnant for the past year. Only 4 percent of American workers have gotten any kind of payout related to the corporate tax cuts, and most of those have been one-time bonuses, not permanent raises.
There's no sign tax cuts have spurred hiring. Job growth under President Trump is merely a continuation of six years of job growth under President Obama and Obama created more jobs in his last 19 months than Trump has in his first 19 months.
Cutting business taxes was supposed to cause an explosion of investment. Yet business investment has increased at a slower rate this year than at several periods during the Obama recovery.
Instead of investing in workers or equipment, companies are mostly buying back their own stock, a maneuver that artificially inflates the share price and rewards CEOs and wealthy investors. Corporations have announced $733 billion worth of stock buybacks since the Trump-GOP tax law was enacted 103 times more than the $7 billion workers have gotten in bonuses and raises.
For the money McDonald's spent on stock buybacks, it could've given every one of its 2 million employees that $4,000 raise President Trump promised them. But they didn't.
The economic miracle envisaged by the tax plan's backers hasn't materialized. But the dire consequences predicted by the plan's opponents certainly have. To cover the deficits created by their own tax cuts, Republicans want to cut trillions of dollars from essential public services.
Despite promising never to touch Medicare or Medicaid, President Trump is seeking $1.3 trillion in cuts to those programs and to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The House GOP wants to cut a total of $5 trillion, including $2 trillion from health care. Trump and House Republicans would also slash funding for students in school and college, among many other service cuts.
Round two of the Trump-GOP tax cuts would only repeat the same destructive pattern: huge handouts to the rich, huge deficits, and huge service cuts for working families. The big difference is that the budget hole created would be much deeper this time, making the resulting cuts to services that much more severe.
No wonder they did it while Americans were distracted.

Only nine persons were interviewed by the FBI - at the direction of the President. [i.e. the fix was in and the facts were not sought, nor to know the truth!). Ford nor Kavanaugh were interviewed. Only one of the persons named by Ford was and he was an old buddy of Kavanugh sure to lie and keep the secrets. None of the 20 persons Ramirez said could confirm her allegations were interviewed! The location of the house in question was not sought [piece of cake for the FBI], nor the date - which seems to match the July 1 calendar entry. Avenatti's client Swetnick was not interviewed nor were any of her many witnesses she offered to name. Perhaps even worse hundreds of people TRIED and failed to contact the FBI with what they felt was relevant information - much of it eye-witness. The FBI refused to talk to these people and gave them the run-around. Senators are now given one hour to look at the SINGLE COPY available in a secure room with a guard. No notes or copies are allowed. Just a mini-version of the 911 Commission report or the Warren Report - all with the conclusions decided before the 'investigation' and working from there backwards. What a fucked up political system we have. To call it broken would be too kind, as I don't think it can be repaired - only replaced en toto.

The vote on Kavanaugh will be Saturday morning barring some surprise. Bye bye Roe v. Wade, environmental sanity, gender equality, what little remains of freedoms and rights; it will be Corporations and the rich over all else - and Trump will get a 'get outta jail free card' if he gets ordered to submit to a subpoena or investigated, etc.

The George W Bush gang that planned the phony 9-11 and the phony Iraq War have taken over the Supreme Court. It is now clear for all to see that the thing that the "Skull and Bones" Yale elite crowd is resonating on is criminality.

The famous Yale graduates that we know something about are George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and now Kavanaugh. Clinton and Kavanaugh are apparently rapists and George W. Bush is a torture advocate and a War Criminal under international law.

Both Kavanaugh and Gorsuch attended Georgetown Prep as did Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.

The more income inequality and Deep State control of our government that we are getting, the more it seems like the credentials you need to be in the Deep State in-crowd is willingness to participate in criminality. Reference 3 generations of Bushes.

I would add to this bad situation the names of Comey, McCabe, Brennan, Strzok, Christopher Steele, Lisa Page and that whole gang who are using legal process to try and overturn the will of the voters. They (Comey) also determined the outcome of the 2016 election with the "October surprise" of Comey.

The one thing that the Rosenstein-McCabe behavior has in common with the record of Kavanaugh is the eagerness to flout the law and to despise the "little people" like you and me. To them, the voters are the LITTLE PEOPLE and the more power they get, the worse it will be for us LITTLE PEOPLE!

Here are all the ways the effort to clear Kavanaugh was a farce

Conservatives say the process has been thorough and meaningful. That couldn't be further from the truth.

SEN. CHUCK GRASSLEY (R-IA) AND SEN. ORRIN HATCH (R-UT) ON THEIR WAY TO REVIEW THE FBI REPORT ABOUT ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULTS BY SUPREME COURT NOMINEE JUDGE BRETT KAVANAUGH OCTOBER 04, 2018 IN WASHINGTON, DC. (CREDIT: PHOTO BY CHIP SOMODEVILLA/GETTY IMAGES)The race to quickly install President Trump's Supreme Court pick is picking up speed, despite the fact that the process of considering the sexual assault allegations leveled against him has been a political farce every step of the way.
As senators examine the results of the FBI investigation into some of the accusations against Judge Brett Kavanaugh which the White House confirmed on Thursday only examined what Republican lawmakers wanted it to Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has already scheduled a cloture vote to limit debate on Friday, allowing 51 senators to push Kavanaugh to the precipice of a lifetime Supreme Court seat.
Kavanaugh has been a historically unpopular nominee, galvanizing women and activists opposed to his nomination. These type of allegations are not part of a typical partisan opposition to a conservative Supreme Court nominee. Justice Neil Gorsuch, for example, did not face several allegations of sexual assault and questions about his willingness to mislead Congress during his confirmation process.
Nonetheless, the Republican senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee have been rushing to place Kavanaugh onto the Supreme Court without slowing down to hear more testimony or conduct a serious investigation into the allegations of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who said Kavanaugh and high school friend Mark Judge attempted to rape her at a party in 1982, or Deborah Ramirez, who said Kavanaugh exposed himself to her when they were at Yale, or Julie Swetnick, who accused Kavanaugh and Judge of participating in a gang rape in high school.
Here's what the White House and Senate Republicans have done to ensure that, regardless of what they conclude after reading the FBI investigation, the effort to take these allegations seriously has been a sham:
Giving a prosecutor just 15 minutes to question Kavanaugh before cutting her off

Senate Republicans on the Judiciary Committee conscripted Arizona prosecutor Rachel Mitchell to question Christine Ford when she testified before the committee last week, in a self-admitted effort to prevent the optics of a dozen men questioning a woman about sexual assault.
For five-minute segments using Republican senators' time, Mitchell exhaustively and methodically questioned Dr. Ford about her allegation that Kavanaugh attempted to rape her in 1982. Though Mitchell did not appear to uncover any deceit, bias, or inaccuracies in Ford's account, Mitchell's summary memoconcluded a prosecutor would not bring a case against Kavanaugh.
When Judge Kavanaugh appeared before the committee the same day, Mitchell was allowed to question Kavanaugh for only 15 minutes, before Republican senators took over and used their time themselves to defend Kavanaugh's reputation, complain about the unfair process he'd been enduring, and mostly attack Democrats. Much of Mitchell's time was spent on introductory remarks and clarifying the definition of sexual behavior. There was no serious effort on the part of the committee's majority to critically investigate Kavanaugh the ostensible purpose of the hearing. As Sen. Flake asked for an FBI investigation the following day in exchange for his vote, Republican senators and Kavanaugh used the questioning he faced in the hearing to argue against the need for an FBI investigation.
Not calling Mark Judge to testify at Kavanaugh's hearing

Mark Judge, the other person Dr. Ford said assaulted her alongside Kavanaugh, was not subpoenaed to testify before Congress so that senators could question him about his potential knowledge of Ford's allegations. Julia Swetnick also accused Judge of being among a group of men that included Kavanaugh who would gang-rape or assault drugged women at house parties but Judge was not asked to answer to these allegations during last week's hearing.
Not giving Deborah Ramirez a chance to tell her story to senators

Not only was Deborah Ramirez excluded from last week's hearing during which Dr. Ford testified, but the woman who accused Kavanaugh of exposing himself to her at a college party did not even get a chance to speak with senate staff. According to her lawyer, Republican senate staffers failed to show up for a call they had scheduled with her before the hearing leaving Democratic staffers to interview her.
Placing a person to oversee the FBI investigation who has been working to get Kavanaugh confirmed

Don McGahn, Trump's White House counsel, has taken the lead in overseeing the FBI investigation into Ford's allegations against Kavanaugh including decisions such as placing limits around the investigation.
At the same time, McGahn reportedly has been working behind the scenes to get Kavanaugh successfully confirmed. According to the Washington Post, McGahn "has been in bunker mode, working nearly nonstop to save the nomination by serving as both lawyer and crisis communications adviser to Trump and Kavanaugh, often being the rare person who will speak bluntly to both men." It's a clear conflict of interest.
Ignoring dozens of witnesses who tried to get in touch as part of the investigation

Mark Judge's ex-girlfriend, who has said he admitted to her that he and others took "turns having sex with a drunk woman" in high school, repeatedly asked to speak to the Senate Judiciary Committee and the FBI but said over the weekendshe had not received any substantive response. According to news reports, dozens of other former classmates who say they could potentially corroborate the allegations against Kavanaugh have not been able to get in touch with the FBI.
Not interviewing Kavanaugh classmates who could have evidence of perjury

A key part of Judge Kavanaugh's denial of Dr. Ford's allegations is that he said he never drank so much that he blacked out, which affects memory retention and which would raise concerns about his ability to declare he never attended a party with, nor sexually assaulted, Ford in high school.
But there are multiple former classmates of Kavanaugh who dispute his characterization of his drinking habits, including some who have spoken publicly. For example, Kavanaugh's freshman roommate at Yale, Jaime Roche, told CNN that he remembered Kavanaugh throwing up from drinking and also that Kavanaugh told him he had blacked out.

This could potentially implicate Kavanaugh of perjury due to his Senate testimony. However, the FBI never contacted Roche about Kavanaugh, in any of the six previous background checks nor the most recent investigation centered on Ford's and Ramirez's allegations.
Not allowing Julie Swetnick's allegations to be fully investigated

Despite President Trump's tweet saying that he wants the FBI to interview "anyone they deem appropriate," the White House did not change the limits it placed on the allowable witness list it gave the FBI. This list, according to NBC News, did not include accuser Julie Swetnick, whose allegations against Kavanaugh and Judge are similar to the allegations that Ford describes.
Not interviewing Ford or Kavanaugh as part of the investigation

The main credible witness for the first accusation against Kavanaugh the ostensible reason for the investigation in the first place didn't talk to the FBI. According to Bloomberg, the White House didn't give the FBI clear authority to interview Ford, and therefore it only reviewed her senate testimony. Ford said she even offered to turn over therapy notes from sessions where she had talked about the assault years ago. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders dismissed the idea of the FBI interviewing Ford as "ludicrous."
Kavanaugh, the man at the center of the investigation and the man whose credibility is at issue, was also not interviewed, according to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).
There is precedent here. When Anita Hill accused Justice Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment in 1991, after his initial senate hearings ended, the FBI investigated immediately, interviewing both Hill and Thomas.
Limiting senators' access to just one copy of the investigation

There is only one copy of the FBI report about this investigation, which only exists in a secure room in the Senate normally used for classified matters, and senators are allowed to review it for one hour at a time Republicans and Democrats alternating access as of 12 p.m. Thursday. There is no evidence the report will be made public.
Immediately declaring the investigation doesn't include corroborating evidence of sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh

Despite the limitations of the FBI investigation, Republicans are wasting no time declaring that it includes everything they need to know in order to move forward. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), before senators were ostensibly even able to review the details in the report, issued a public declaration that it contained "nothing in it we didn't already know." He defended Kavanaugh's record and character, and concluded, "We know that he will be an excellent justice because he's been an excellent judge. It's time to vote. I'll be voting to confirm Judge Kavanaugh."

"I saw him coming home from parties unable to speak coherently."

AARON RUPAR OCT 4, 2018, 12:39 PM

CREDIT: SCREENGRABOn Thursday morning, one of Brett Kavanaugh's roommates at Yale, Jamie Roche, went on CNN and said Kavanaugh committed perjury when he told the Senate Judiciary Committee he never drank so much he blacked out.
"I was Brett's college roommate, we shared a room. We had beds 12 feet apart, and I would see him leaving to go to parties having had beers in our suite, I saw him coming home from parties unable to speak coherently," Roche said. "I saw him when he was vomiting in the bedroom and in the bathroom in the suite, and I saw him the next morning when he couldn't get himself out of bed. I am not a doctor, I don't know how you define blacking out,' but like I lot of people I had some beer in college as well and I would say those things are consistent with blacking out."
Roche went on to say he has specific memories of he and Kavanaugh having conversations in which the future judge confessed to drinking to the point where he'd say things like, "Well, I can't really remember if I did this or did that."
Roche added that he also thinks Kavanaugh misled the Senate when he professed ignorance about the meanings of sexual slang terms he used during his high school and college days.

New sworn affidavits blow a hole in Kavanaugh's claim he's a victim of a Dem conspiracy

Dr. Ford has been naming him for years.

"I think what was shocking to me was getting up under oath and with a straight face saying these things were true when he knew and when a lot of people knew that that was not the case," Roche said. "And it was a suggestion that if i just say this, nobody will challenge me, nobody will stand up and take the risk of saying what we all knew to be true.'"
Roche's testimony would be evidence that Kavanaugh committed perjury. But not only has he not been contacted by congressional investigators, but he said later in the interview that the FBI didn't contact him as part of the bureau's just-completed investigation of two sexual assault claims against Kavanaugh including one that allegedly happened while Kavanaugh was drunk at a party at Yale.

The White House's talking point is that Kavanaugh's possible perjury about his drinking habits doesn't matter, because he's had a commendable career since then. Republicans seem to be on the same page.
Despite the fact that Roche and many other key witnesses have been frozen out of the Senate and FBI investigations, key Senate Republicans indicated on Thursday morning that they're satisfied with the FBI's work, and indicated they're willing to vote for Kavanaugh without Roche and other witnesses who weren't contacted by the FBI having a chance to tell their story under oath or to investigators.

Roche's comments are far from the only evidence that Kavanaugh committed perjury.
As ThinkProgress detailed on Wednesday, a letter Kavanaugh wrote to seven Georgetown Preparatory School classmates who joined him for a weeklong vacation at an Ocean City, Maryland condo in 1983 that was obtained by the New York Times advises his friends that "it would probably be a good idea on Sat. the 18th to warn the neighbors that we're loud, obnoxious drunks with prolific pukers among us. Advise them to go about about 30 miles…"

Kavanaugh's Beach Week' letter provides new evidence he misled Congress

That letter corroborates a book written by Kavanaugh's friend Mark Judge about the drinking culture at Georgetown Prep in which he tells a story about a "Bart O'Kavanaugh" who drank so much that he vomited in someone's car during Beach Week.
Kavanaugh, however, testified under oath last month that a reference to vomiting in his yearbook merely referred to his weak stomach, not binge drinking. The letter makes that claim appear dubious at best.
During his testimony, Kavanaugh wouldn't even admit that the "Bart O'Kavanaugh" Mark Judge wrote about was him. That claim is particularly hard to fathom in light of the fact that the letter he wrote to his friends is signed, "Bart."

When Mr. Dagosto says the above sentences in my postings are contradictory, I get frustrated because I haven't gotten my message through to even the people on this site, much less to anyone in the media. (I am a regular caller to C-Span Washington Journal and a regular visitor to my Congressman's office and town halls, so I keep trying).

The Deep State both determined the 2016 election through Comey AND are trying to overturn the decision of the voters. All the talking heads on TV simply can't properly analyze things regarding the Deep State.

THEY THINK THE 2016 ELECTION WAS A BINARY CHOICE. YOU HAD TO LIKE EITHER HILARY OR TRUMP. FOR YOU AND ME IT WAS. BUT NOT FOR THE DEEP STATE!

The goal of the Deep State was to put a Yale, Skull and Bones type on the Supreme Court (and in the White House) and definitely not a liberal. So I will say it here for the hundreth time:

THE DEEP STATE DIDN'T WANT EITHER HILARY OR TRUMP! What's so hard to understand about that?

Simply put, they used Trump to defeat Hilary, now they're trying to overturn the election and get a Bush-Cheney type war criminal in the place of Trump and Pence. They want it just like they did with Watergate where they got their Bilderberg buddy Gerald Ford appointed without any election. And the Supreme Court is also a major big deal with them.

By bullying Trump, they have got three people appointed to top jobs from just one Deep State high school. These nominees are not the choices made by Trump.
They are forced upon Trump by McConnell and the Republican "Skull and Bones", Yale-DC clique.

They didn't like Hilary because the Deep State is controlled by big money and Hilary would not, for example, give corporations a tax cut. But they don't like Trump because he has openly mocked the intel community over the Iraq War and WMD. Trump is pretty much IN OPEN WARFARE WITH THE DEEP STATE which they knew would happen.

So if Mueller succeeds, they get rid of both Hilary and Trump. Why can't people see that? In 1973, they backed Nixon to stop McGovern, then they overturned the election of Nixon with the Watergate phony scandal. Then they got their boy, Gerald Ford as President without any input from voters.

The Hilary-Trump-Mueller playbook is identical to Watergate. So please, don't people tell me I'm inconsistent. People like Sean Hannity (a college dropout) just can't grasp the idea that the choice of the Deep State was not limited to either Hilary or Trump. The Deep State has many more options than just two (that you and I had).

I'm not inconsistent. It's the analysis of the talking heads on TV that's just too ignorant and simplistic (like Hannity) and they can't see an obvious reality like this even though it's happening right in front of their face!
