Dress Rehearsal For Debt Peonage
Guns And Butter
"Dress Rehearsal For Debt Peonage" with economist Dr. Michael Hudson on why the banks are returning the bailout money; bank fees and penalties; banks prefer default to foreclosure; debt as wealth; Obama's Financial Regulatory Reform Proposal and its six major flaws; the deregulation-by centralization ploy; failure to reform the economy will lead to debt peonage.

"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it." Karl Marx

"He would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies. When asked in court whether she knew that Lord Astor had denied having sex with her.

It [like all of his talks] is a great show....and VERY depressing. Every wonder what life in the Middle Ages was like for the Serfs?...according to Hudson, you won't have to wait long to find out....

Yeah, it's all of the above. A sensational show and horribly depressing. Latvia and Iceland are the prototypes for the rest of us.

Thanks for posting this link Maggie. I was unfamiliar with Dr. Michael Hudson, but he's up there with the great and genuine economists like Stiglitz and Krugman. He's very good at putting things in understandable, and entertaining, terms.

And speaking of Stiglitz, former chief economist of the World Bank who has outed their tactics, I have to read Hudson's book Super Imperialism on the World Bank and IMF. Has anyone here read it?

Hudson's website is http://michael-hudson.com/

Yes, I've read it and use it in my Globalization and Economic Integration course. He's easier to listen to, than read - though the ideas are the same [by the way there is a place to download it on the internet...will try to find]. There is a large archive of his shows at the KPFA Archive [down for a few days] on the show Guns and Butter. I place him as my #1 Political Economist. If half of what he says is true, we had all better buy teepees and abandon the electronic community for a real one in a forest somewhere.....
