In view of recent events, I'm voluntarily and permanently refraining from posting on any and all threads pertaining to Israel. I feel too strongly about it, and this causes me to frequently lose both my judgement and my temper, resulting, as it did recently, in a bad look for the DPF.
There's plenty of other issues anyway.

Hi Mark, you are of course free to do what you feel is best but it seems a shame not to talk of Israel or Zionism given their influence and role in many of the subjects discussed here. It is hard to talk any kind of western politics or history with out it coming up sooner or later at least to some degree. And your signature is fine. I remember my Zionist relatives all loved Golda M. Some used to say that the Palestinians already had their own home land and it was called Jordan. Mmmm...
Anyway, I suppose just keeping it political and not personal will help. People can't help what race they are or where they are born. Even though John Howard did appalling things in our name doesn't mean we support him any more than it make every Jewish person a Zionist because of what is done by some in their name.

I concur Magda, it would be a pity to lose Mark's comments on the subject.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. You simply will NOT refrain from addressing topics directly (or otherwise) related to Israel.
Rather, you posts on all subjects will reflect emotional and intellectual discipline of the sort you've been able to demonstrate in so many instances over the years.
There is too much at stake for you to simply capitulate to the "anti-Zionism equals anti-Semitism" canard.

I really don't want to lose your insights into Israel Mark. I've learned a lot from you. Just know where to draw the line.
