'At one time, many AID field offices [under the auspices of the State Department] were infiltrated from top to bottom with CIA people. It was pretty well known within the agency who they were and what they were up to.... The idea was to plant operatives in every kind of activity we had overseas, government, volunteer, religious, every kind."

Government "aid" or "development" officer is one of the flimsiest spook covers in the world.
Right up there with journalist, businessman (or woman), and diplomat.

That emoticon is a symbolic representation of a very SMOM-ey wandering bishop.

Yes, and that quote was the one I could most easily find from the book. But the JFKU book strongly asserted the widespread injection of spookery as implied by Jesse, the tale of the state government, and
recent revelations about the use of spooks within Wall Street enterprise. These days, it seems that
they are everywhere, and there is open recruitment and training going on inside college campuses, no doubt many of them privatized or previously linked.
But it's okay...
We are everywhere too.
