Ventura: ‘You’re not allowed to ask’ about 9/11

Former Minnesota governor and one-time professional wrestler Jesse Ventura has run afoul of the Huffington Post's no-conspiracy-theory policy, and he's not happy about it."I can't believe the Huffington Post today will practice censorship," Ventura says in astonishment. "I've got news for them. ... I won't ever write for 'em again."
Ventura had posted an item on Tuesday which took note of a recent conference at which "more than one thousand architects and engineers signed a petition demanding that Congress begin a new investigation into the destruction of the World Trade Center skyscrapers on 9/11." He also quoted a few paragraphs from his new book, American Conspiracies, to explain why some of those experts see signs of controlled demolition.
The item was featured on the front page of Huffington Post when it first went up, but after a few hours it vanished. All that appears now at its original location is an editor's note saying, "The Huffington Post's editorial policy, laid out in our blogger guidelines, prohibits the promotion and promulgation of conspiracy theories -- including those about 9/11. As such, we have removed this post."
The note is followed by three pages of comments, enthusiastically arguing the pros and cons of controlled demolition and other 9/11 theories, that were posted during the couple of hours before the entry was deleted and comments were closed.
nastasia Churkina, a correspondent for RT, interviewed Ventura about the controversy. "He's a man who doesn't mince his words too much," she reported on Thursday. "He was pretty blunt."
"I can't believe the Huffington Post today will practice censorship," Ventura told her angrily. "They asked me to be a contributing editor and they said, 'Write about anything you want.' So it was the second time I did something -- and they removed it?"
"Well, I've got news for them," he continued. "I won't ever write for 'em again. ... I won't do a thing for the Huffington Post because I don't like it when people censor what I have to say."
"All I do is ask questions!" he exploded. "That's what bugs me about 9/11. 9/11 is an event you're not allowed to ask a question about. ... Clearly they don't want any questions on it."
Ironically, Ventura had to go to RT, the English-language version of a Russian news channel, to tell his story. Although polls show that large numbers of Americans believe in a broad range of conspiracy theories, and a majority entertain doubts about the official story of 9/11, few of those questions ever appear in the mainstream media.
As Raw Story recently reported , "In November of 2007, an online article noted, 'Nearly two-thirds of Americans think it is possible that some federal officials had specific warnings of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, but chose to ignore those warnings, according to a Scripps Howard News Service/Ohio University poll.' A national survey of 811 adult residents of the United States conducted by Scripps and Ohio University found that more than a third believe in a broad smorgasbord of conspiracy theories including the attacks, international plots to rig oil prices, the plot to assassinate President John F. Kennedy in 1963 and the government’s knowledge of intelligent life from other worlds. The high percentage is a manifestation, some say, of an American public that increasingly distrusts the federal government."
Even liberal websites, however, discourage questions about 9/11, to the point where BooMan of the Booman Tribune had to preface a post at Daily Kos in 2005 by writing "I know this touches on verboten conspiracy theories, but this is a front-page NYT article."
"It's kind of hard to tell whether or not a new investigation will be launched," Churkina concluded. "Many people don't think this is going to be happening any time soon, even with such public figures, like Jesse Venture and other, calling for it."
This video from RT was posted at YouTube on March 12, 2010.

Not a surprise, but sad - more so when one notes that the 'official' version of the events of 9-11-01 is also a conspiracy theory. A think the former Soviet Union's propagandists must look in awe at how they are outclassed by the current thought control in the USA today.

Ah, but the official conspiracy version of events is an allowable conspiracy.

You just need to get your right thinking hat on. That is to say, you need to transport yourself back to the times of Galileo Galilei and the Inquisition and then telescope that mind-set back to today and, voila!

Ventura ran afoul of the left gatekeepers, the so-called 'A List' prog blogs are no more interested in critical thinking and research than the mainstream corporate media. Huffington Post which flushed Ventura's recent story down the memory hole is a sad fucking joke just as Daily Kos (about as left wing as Stalin) is because along with many of the larger but lesser prog blogs there is a chilling form of censorship practiced where the official government lies are not allowed to be questioned or the pressure is ratcheted up and the one who dares to ask the forbidden questions is quickly stigmatized, discredited and eventually banned. I know about these things because I have experienced them as have many, many others.

The sad truth is that so many of the at one time insurgent blogs have been long co-opted and turned into de-facto arms of the corrupt Democrat party, one need to just look at the way that Cindy Sheehan was excommunicated once the 2006 elections put the other criminal party back in control of congress and she was no longer needed. The antiwar movement is virtually non-existent on the 'left' and solely seems to exist in places like the libertarian Antiwar.com or the non-interventionist Ron Paul camp but even now that is being stomped out with the farce that is Jihad Jane who must be Joe Lieberman's wet dream given that now it allows the 'terrorist' lable to be applied to white Americans too.

I split from the 'left' because I just could no longer tolerate the fawning adulation for TV Mockingbirds like Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and Bill Maher along with comedian Jon Stewart who are nothing more than the millionaire counterparts of the fascists on FOX. When do you ever hear any sort of questioning of the American Reichstag Fire anywhere over on the progressive side? It is non-existent just as are any serious criticisms by Olbermann or Maddow of the permanent state of war that the lie of 9/11 has created or for that matter the police state, the naked body scanners or our very special genocidal friends in Israel. Were any of those phonies to ever even mention anything deviating from the official government line they would be out of their studios like shit through a goose.

Anyway, the pathetic censorship of Ventura is no surprise at all.

Just my two cents

Two cents worth is very often worth a lot more than its monetary value. It is evident that there are gatekeepers across the political spectrum, because there is also consensus on the big issues by the same parties. And the radical left are not a dissimilar beast to the fascist right - two sides of the same zealot coin in my view.

Which is exactly why I left 'the left', once it became apparent that when Obama was doing the exact same things as Bush (and worse, there is NO WAY that Bush ever could have gotten away with the naked scanners) and people were defending it I had enough. Take for example the Code Pink leader Medea Benjamin being down with the war in Afghanistan now because it advanced women's rights, the O-Bots were now defending exactly that which they screamed for Bush and Cheney to be strung up by their balls for.

Not that I defend Bush and Cheney for anything but it is the hypocrisy and the willful ignorance that permeates the pathetic excuse for the 'left' in this country. They certainly have learned to love the police state since their guy is ensconced at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, nary a peep has been uttered over Obama's seal of approval on the fascist surveillance apparatus and the ongoing murder of civilians in other countries.

Flip sides of the same rotten coin indeed.

Just my two cents

Ed- I did not realize that Cope Pink leaders were now supporting the Afghan war. Terrible news. I too have broken with the left for the same reasons as you. A bunch of spineless cowards. Obama is doing all the things Bush did and getting a pass. If I hear "give him time" one MORE time I will scream. Can't watch Keith and Rachel anymore. They have their script they must follow. Interesting that Jesse Ventura is getting on tv a LOT but not on MSNBC...Hmmmm...

Yeah, the Code Pink thing was pretty bad and more than a bit of a P.R. disaster for the organization. I just tired of it all and it was pretty sad to see people who I fought side by side with against the tyranny of the police/warfare state turn on me like dogs when I had the temerity to call out the glimmer twins on MSNBC as just more of the same corporate hacks. My departure from 'the left' was as devastating as the airstrike on Colonel Kurtz's compound at the end of Apocalypse Now. I am not the only one either, prominent voices like Chris Hedges have also denounced the pathetic excuse for the 'left' recently. I knew that it was going seriously bad when there was so much support over the phony neocon psyops treatment of Iran's 'Green Revolution' that splintered progressives and turned far too many of them who should know better into neocon propaganda parrots demonizing that bad man Ahmadinejad so that public support for an Israeli attack that would kick off WW III could build.

What a sad disappointment, I expect the right-wingers to be lemmings, join phony Republican/corporatist co-opted tea parties and treat an abject moron like Glenn Beck as a modern day prophet but I must say that the 'left' is really no better, as long as it's THEIR police state and THEIR wars they are down with it all.

Keep on fighting the good fight

What kind of journalistic organ has a public policy of "no conspiracy theories?" Even the New York Times and CBS News were never that blatant! If the powers that be are somehow able to ever gain control of the internet-which is one of their most fervent desires-then the Huffington Post will epitomize what we'll get as our "alternative" news sources.

I guess it was about ten months ago that I reached the point that I couldn't watch Maddow/Olberman any longer. That basically left me with nothing more to watch for MSM news.I did the only thing I could at that point.Yep,I killed my TV.No remorse so far............

PS:Ed,glad to see you still posting.I thought I might have run you off with my overly harsh response in an earlier thread.Sorry bout that...Confusedtupido:
