US Intell planned to destroy Wikileaks

AMY GOODMAN: Julian, Marc Thiessen, the former chief speechwriter for President George W. Bush and a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, wrote a column in Tuesday’s Washington Post calling WikiLeaks a "criminal enterprise." He went on to write—let me quote—"Assange is a non-U.S. citizen operating outside the territory of the United States. This means the government has a wide range of options for dealing with him. It can employ not only law enforcement but also intelligence and military assets to bring Assange to justice and put his criminal syndicate out of business. The first step is for the Justice Department to indict Assange." Again, these are the words of Marc Thiessen, who is the former speechwriter for George W. Bush, writing in Washington Post.

JULIAN ASSANGE: Yeah, extraordinary. But I see, we can guess, what perhaps would have happened to this organization under Bush. But we should have some concerns in that Obama has authorized the assassination of US citizens overseas. And what will happen? Will that be—we’ll see some statement leading to that sort of behavior. It appears that this administration is not above that. I see this a bit as a floating balloon that Thiessen has put up. Of course, he is no doubt doing it in order to show that he’s at the vanguard of that school of thought. And it will be seen whether that balloon gets shot down or not by the American people. And if it doesn’t get shot down by criticism, then it will be assumed that that behavior is in some way acceptable. Now, in Europe, it’s another matter. What Thiessen is saying is that US forces would enter European territory without—illegally and conduct an illegal act, like they did in Italy, kidnapping some al-Qaeda. But disturbing to me is to see these references to deal with journalists that were previously done to al-Qaeda.

I'm surprized They haven't branded Assange a "terrorist" and Wikileaks a "terrorist organisation".

Then, They could simply give his name to TF 373, or some other sub-contracted, deep black, death squad, and target him for extra-judicial assassation.

They have in all but name - and I'm sure they will shortly. The whole organization and the concept, not to mention Assange have a big target on their heads and 'Private Contractors' and Black Ops Specialists, sadly, will shortly have their names, photos and 'mission'. Too many journalists and researchers, progressives and protesters have died or been wrongly imprisoned and worse, already!!!!

What I found especially surreal about that 'press briefing' is Morrel's apparent inability to understand the distinction between 'documents' and 'information'. Over and over again he stated the same demand 'Wikileaks must return all the documents in its possession' - as if that would have the remotest effect on the dissemination of the information contained in the original digital files.

He also stated several times 'they are the property of the US government' and I waited in vain for one of the reporters in the extended Q&A's to respond with something like "well, if our democracy really is 'government of the people for the people by the people' , does that not make them the property of the people?" - or something similar; but no joy. It seems that pathological government secrecy remain sacrosanct.

Media speculation is it's more documents. Might be a film. AES-256 was mentioned in the Lamo chat transcripts on wired as the encryption method Brad Manning used or found used for files containing US military secrets. The words he used were strong passwords, aes-256, split and zipped files.

I happen to agree with Webster Tarpley that the Pentagon Papers were a completely controlled and intentional partial leak, heavily redacted. Woodward and Bernstein were also dupes in George H. W. Bush's project to throw Nixon out on his ass. Tarpley is convinced Assange is working for the Anglo-American intelligence community because of his freedom of movement in the UK and the non-shutdown of his servers, which is completely within the power of DoD to accomplish. I think Assange is just doing something Tarpley doesn't completely understand, there's a generation gap involved and very different cultural/subcultural backgrounds. Both parties would do well to set aside preconceptions and communicate, but the equation is now very unequal, with Assange in the global media limelight for the moment. Assange possibly fails to understand the level of disrepute to which the MSM is held by a plurality of members of the thinking public. Just as the security classifications of the "Afghan War Diary" are fairly low, so too is the political understanding among the wikileaks upper-level management rather shallow. They haven't peeled the onion back very far at all and are still dealing with the stageprops of Osama, al-Qaeda, disloyal Pakistan etc. Still, it's a quantum leap above what the Wshington Post et al. are doing today. fwiw.

My position remains that the wikileak documents contain genuinely dangerous material.

However, it seems that western intelligence and its mockingbird assets have managed to steer the "mainstream" debate onto areas such as Taliban-ISI "collaboration" and the "endangerment" of soldiers and personnel because of the leaking of the documents.

Whilst the drones and death squads of TF 373 continue their foul and illegal business in near complete MSM silence.

Very interesting. Tarpley is someone to be taken seriously and many of the things he speaks to sound like they ring true or need to be seriously considered. While I'd not be surprised if his theory is correct and we have seen similar before, as he points out, I'm (personally) not YET ready to draw this conclusion [on Assange], but I do seriously consider it as one of the possibilities. How this plays out in the short term [next weeks], will tell all. Anyway, I suggest all listen to this hour discussion!!!!! Tarpley certainly made some powerful points and connections that DO make me have some doubts now about the Wikileaks leak on Afghanistan et al. :joyman: The most damning information is the 'board' of Wikileaks......if true that does it for me!

Zahir Ebrahim - perhaps less so but I for one am mightily impressed with his site and the stuff he has authored on it.

The thing that niggles away at me is Assanges apparent acceptance - even promotion of - the 9/11 official narrative. Maybe he's been got at - All that early childhood stuff certainly qualifies him as possible 'Manchurian Candidate' material

I remain agnostic on the matter
