Explains many of the arcane and punitive restrictions and punishments that can entrap and befall an American who wishes to and does travel to Cuba. So much for freedom....'land of the free'.....etc.....
Tomorrow, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs will be voting on House Resolution 4645 - an important piece of legislation that would lift the travel ban to Cuba were it passed. As you know, the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) has represented over 400 individuals accused of violating the travel ban and believes that the travel ban is a violation of Constitutional protections and international law.
Contact your Representative today and urge them to cast the right vote and put an end to this Cold War relic.
The Obama administration has relaxed family travel and remittance regulations and signaled the possibility of a more open relationship with Cuba; however, whatever progress achieved under President Obama can easily be undone by future presidential administrations. Ultimately, Congress must take action to permanently restore the right to travel by dismantling all restrictions on travel to Cuba and pass H.R. 4645.
The following Representatives' votes are key to the passage of H.R. 4645 in Committee on Foreign Affairs - if your Representative is among them, please contact them and urge them to life the travel ban to Cuba and affirm the right to travel:
