Arizona Congresswoman Shot dead at point-blank range moments ago~!

Magda Hassan Wrote:My experience is that one either likes The Communist Manifesto or one likes Mein Kampf. But not both. I smell a rat.

Too many 'rats' in this to list.
- Jared (ruler) LEE 'loner'
- Mind Control references [whether he was or not - I'd place my chips on was]
- Magda's point above
- Palin's hit list
- Second time a gunman came for this Congresswoman
- Lee got off 30 rounds before tackled by an aide - not the police
- incoherent rants about fiat currency and other things on videos
- accomplice who got away WAS AGED ABOUT 50! [HIS CONTROLLER?]
- one of the few Jewish Congresspersons and only woman who is
- believes in woman's right to choose and use of human stem cells
- pro-environment and alternative energy
- "Goodbye friends" message published hours before shooting, exhorted his friends to "Please don't be mad at me."
- Military won't tell why he was not accepted, but will tell he applied
- talk of terrorism, almost of being a terrorist and we'll know more in a few days
- fairly progressive Congresswoman and hated by the Tea Party [target, hit-list, reload...]
- the stirring up of political polarization in AZ lately with several laws and actions
- plastic gun [detectable with metal detectors, but not very] with 29 bullet clip available
- Many more, too many!
- We have 'one of these shootings' every few months...they change the script, but the subtext seems to resonate the same.

The ONLY good thing is miraculously they say she may well recover...I hope will full mental and physical abilities....but I'd say that would be VERY rare for a shot to the head at point blank range.

I'll be very interested to hear what groups and friends he's surrounded himself with in recent years. Now, will the USG subpoena his internet, phone, other records....I very much doubt it. Quick trial and execution. McVeigh, the younger.

Also, just going on gut instinct, the name Jared irked me, so looked it up, it means 'ruler'. Used most by Mormons.

Lastly, for now, I really feel that Palin and her bunch are accessories to this crime - having planted the idea of this Congresswoman as a 'target' in his mind [whether his own] or he is under control of others, then in their minds as a matter of convenience and control. I hope during the trial they drag Palin in and destroy her. I'll also be able to hear what his parents, siblings and family life was like....but this is the same old same old. Very sad for America the state it is in! It is a culture of physical, mental, social and financial violence/hate. The government is violent/hateful. TV, films, videos etc. are violent/hateful. Rap music is mostly violent/hateful. Violence/hate is allowed - and shown as the best way to solve problems, watching tender love-making or examples of diplomacy - international or personal are not. Sick nation....the Government/Oligarchy/Deep Crowd sets the examples, and makes the decrees [I'd not longer call them laws]. The gun-toting youth follow or are led by the mental nose-ring. :wirlitzer:

Updated EST 8:24 PM: Sheriff Dupnik says the suspected accomplice ("person of interest") is male, and possibly "in his 50's." Spy [VERY interesting.....his controller?!?!?!] :mexican:

Updated EST 8:13 PM: Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik gives press conference, raises possibility that Loughner did not act alone. He also refers to Arizona as "a mecca for prejudice and bigotry."

Updated EST 7:55 PM: Suspected shooter Jared Loughner's once obscure profile is leaking out into the open. There's this Arizona Republic picture from March of 2010 (the same month Giffords talked to MSNBC about the danger of Sarah Palin's "target ad") that shows Loughner at a local book fair. Loughner's apparent Youtube videos focus on such wide ranging topics as currency, the Constitution, and "mind control." A Loughner MySpace profile also surfaced--though it was quickly taken down.

Updated EST 7:00 PM: From the New York Times: Latest tally is 17 people shot, six dead. Latest update on Giffords is "critical condition."

Updated EST 6:10 PM: A woman named Caitie Parker has also aroused much web speculation. Parker (via Twitter) claims to have known gunman Jared Loughner from high school, where she states that he was "left wing." Though her relationship to Loughner is unconfirmed as of yet, Parker's updates are gaining traction as people frantically search for information.

Updated EST 5:51 PM Web speculation is circulating in regards to political videos made by a "Jared Loughner." We do not have verification that this is the same person currently held in custody. One of the videos is titled, "My Final Thoughts."

Videos available here.

Giffords expressed similar concern, even before the shooting. In an interview after her office was vandalized, she referred to the animosity against her by conservatives, including Sarah Palin's decision to list Giffords' seat as one of the top "targets" in the midterm elections.

"For example, we're on Sarah Palin's targeted list, but the thing is, that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district. When people do that, they have to realize that there are consequences to that action," Giffords said in an interview with MSNBC.

In the hours after the shooting, Palin issued a statement in which she expressed her "sincere condolences" to the family of Giffords and the other victims.

During his campaign effort to unseat Giffords in November, Republican challenger Jesse Kelly held fundraisers where he urged supporters to help remove Giffords from office by joining him to shoot a fully loaded M-16 rifle. Kelly is a former Marine who served in Iraq and was pictured on his website in military gear holding his automatic weapon and promoting the event.

"I don't see the connection," between the fundraisers featuring weapons and Saturday's shooting, said John Ellinwood, Kelly's spokesman. "I don't know this person, we cannot find any records that he was associated with the campaign in any way. I just don't see the connection.

"Arizona is a state where people are firearms owners - this was just a deranged individual."

Law enforcement officials said members of Congress reported 42 cases of threats or violence in the first three months of 2010, nearly three times the 15 cases reported during the same period a year earlier. Nearly all dealt with the health care bill, and Giffords was among the targets.

A 19-year-old volunteer at the event, Alex Villec, described how the violence unfolded.

Villec, a former staffer for the congresswoman, told The Associated Press that the man who later turned out to be the suspect arrived at the event wearing a black cap and baggy pants and asking for the congresswoman.

"I told him ... she'll be more than happy to talk to you as your turn comes," Villec said. The man walked away, but returned just minutes later and burst through a table separating Villec and Giffords from the public. Villec said he saw him raise an arm, and then he heard gunfire.

The gunman fired at Giffords and her district director and started shooting indiscriminately at staffers and others standing in line to talk to the congresswoman, said Mark Kimball, a communications staffer for Giffords.

"He was not more than three or four feet from the congresswoman and the district director," he said, describing the scene as "just complete chaos, people screaming, crying."

The shooting cast a pall over the Capitol as politicians of all stripes denounced the attack as a horrific. Capitol police asked members of Congress to be more vigilant about security in the wake of the shooting. Obama dispatched his FBI chief to Arizona.

Giffords, known as "Gabby," tweeted shortly before the shooting, describing her "Congress on Your Corner" event: "My 1st Congress on Your Corner starts now. Please stop by to let me know what is on your mind or tweet me later."

"It's not surprising that today Gabby was doing what she always does, listening to the hopes and concerns of her neighbors," Obama said. "That is the essence of what our democracy is about. That is why this is more than a tragedy for those involved. It is a tragedy for Arizona and a tragedy for our entire country."

Doctors were optimistic about Giffords surviving as she was responding to commands from doctors. "With guarded optimism, I hope she will survive, but this is a very devastating wound," said Dr. Richard Carmona, the former surgeon general who lives in Tucson.

Giffords spokesman C.J. Karamargin said besides the aide Zimmerman, who was killed, two other Giffords staffers were shot but expected to survive. Zimmerman was a former social worker who served as Giffords' director of community outreach. Giffords had worked with the judge in the past to line up funding to build a new courthouse in Yuma, and Obama hailed him for his nearly 40 years of service.

Greg Segalini, an uncle of Christina, the 9-year-old victim, told the Arizona Republic that a neighbor was going to the event and invited her along because she had just been elected to the student council and was interested in government.

Christina, who was born on Sept. 11, 2001, was involved in many activities, from ballet to baseball. She had just received her first Holy Communion at St. Odilia's Catholic Church on in Tucson, Catholic Diocese of Tucson officials told The Arizona Daily Star.

In the evening, more than 100 people attended a candlelight vigil outside Giffords' headquarters, where authorities investigated a suspicious package that turned out to be non-explosive.

The suspect Loughner was described by a former classmate as a pot-smoking loner, and the Army said he tried to enlist in December 2008 but was rejected for reasons not disclosed.

Federal law enforcement officials were poring over versions of a MySpace page that included a mysterious "Goodbye friends" message published hours before the shooting and exhorted his friends to "Please don't be mad at me."

In one of several Youtube videos, which featured text against a dark background, Loughner described inventing a new U.S. currency and complained about the illiteracy rate among people living in Giffords' congressional district in Arizona.

"I know who's listening: Government Officials, and the People," Loughner wrote. "Nearly all the people, who don't know this accurate information of a new currency, aren't aware of mind control and brainwash methods. If I have my civil rights, then this message wouldn't have happen (sic)."

In Loughner's middle-class neighborhood - about a five-minute drive from the scene - sheriff's deputies had much of the street blocked off. The neighborhood sits just off a bustling Tucson street and is lined with desert landscaping and palm trees.

Neighbors said Loughner lived with his parents and kept to himself. He was often seen walking his dog, almost always wearing a hooded sweat shirt and listening to his iPod.

Loughner's MySpace profile indicates he attended and graduated from school in Tucson and had taken college classes. He did not say if he was employed.

"We're getting out of here. We are freaked out," 33-year-old David Cleveland, who lives a few doors down from Loughner's house, told The Associated Press.

Cleveland said he was taking his wife and children, ages 5 and 7, to her parent's home when they heard about the shooting.

"When we heard about it, we just got sick to our stomachs," Cleveland said. "We just wanted to hold our kids tight."

High school classmate Grant Wiens, 22, said Loughner seemed to be "floating through life" and "doing his own thing."

"Sometimes religion was brought up or drugs. He smoked pot, I don't know how regularly. And he wasn't too keen on religion, from what I could tell," Wiens said.

Lynda Sorenson said she took a math class with Loughner last summer at Pima Community College's Northwest campus and told the Arizona Daily Star he was "obviously very disturbed." "He disrupted class frequently with nonsensical outbursts," she said.

In October 2007, Loughner was cited in Pima County for possession of drug paraphernalia, which was dismissed after he completed a diversion program, according to online records.

"He has kind of a troubled past, I can tell you that," Dupnik said.

Giffords was first elected to Congress amid a wave of Democratic victories in the 2006 election, and has been mentioned as a possible Senate candidate in 2012 and a gubernatorial prospect in 2014.

She is married to astronaut Mark E. Kelly, who has piloted space shuttles Endeavour and Discovery. The two met in China in 2003 while they were serving on a committee there, and were married in January 2007. Sen. Bill Nelson, chairman of the Senate Commerce Space and Science Subcommittee, said Kelly is training to be the next commander of the space shuttle mission slated for April. His brother is currently serving aboard the International Space Station, Nelson said.

the bullet went right through her head - from one side; out the other!....she may survive, but will [baring a miracle] loose some to much mental and/or physical function....very sad.

They also just released a video of the 50's year old accomplice getting away....if he is a spook, he may never be found....

Yes, and ususally when the PTB are behind such a thing it is also to cover something darker that is occurring. This story becomes the big news to hide what the bastards are up to. I remember thinking that back when Frank Sinarta Jr was "kidnapped". I thougt back then it was a ploy to get the JFK assassination off the front page as people were beginning to question the cover story. At least I was so I assumed others were as well.

I wonder what is really going on. The name "Lee" jumped out at me immediately.
And I dod not know that the last name sounds like "loner" . Damn.
So subtle.

Well, they have taken the measure of making it slightly less obvious than the once used, was it [?] Oswald Lee Harvey....or very close to that. They get more cunning and more daring. What is our counter-move?!

The other interesting point, Dawn, Jack, others, is that such a 'message' can only be read correctly by a very small % of the population - those mostly knowledgeable, plus the most antithetical 'enemies' of its origination. Funny, they want to 'speak' to us...or is it to try to tell us 'you are powerless, even if you know the truth!' :mexican: After all, one won't see any discussion like much of the above in the MSM, or even in much of the so-called alternative media. Only the few cognoscenti.

With the local sheriff's office and the FBI investigating, suspicions that the suspected gunman, Jared Lee Loughner, had an accomplice would complicate the thesis that the shooting was the work of a lone and mentally unbalanced young man lashing out at the government. The existence of a co-conspirator could point to a more calculated plot, and perhaps shed more light on the motive for the attack.

"We are not convinced that [the man in custody] acted alone. There is some reason to believe he came to this location with another individual, and that individual is involved," said Clarence Dupnik, Pima County sheriff, at a press conference Saturday.

RELATED: Why Americans are so angry

Congresswoman Giffords, who underwent surgery Saturday after a bullet struck her in the head during a political "meet and greet" event at a Tucson supermarket, remained in critical condition early Sunday.

Killed in the attack were:

US district Judge John Roll, who stopped by the event to say hello to Giffords. He had been the chief judge for the District of Arizona since 2006 and a federal judge since 1991, appointed by Republican President George H.W. Bush. He had been the target of threats several years ago, after he ruled that a civil rights lawsuit filed by illegal immigrants could proceed against an Arizona rancher, according to a CNN report.

Gabriel Zimmerman, one of Giffords's aides. Engaged to be married, Mr. Zimmerman, who like Gifford was Jewish, was the congresswoman's director of community outreach and a Tucson native.

Dorwin Stoddard, a retired construction worker. Mr. Stoddard's wife was also injured, but witnesses told CNN that he tried to shield her from gunshots. She is expected to recover.

Christina Greene, a 9-year-old who had recently been elected to serve on the student council at her school. She went to the event with a neighbor to meet Giffords.

At time of writing, little was known about two others who died at the scene , Phyllis Scheck and Dorothy Morris, both in their seventies.

Jared Lee Loughner: army reject with a troubled past

Jared Lee Loughner, suspect in Gabrielle Giffords shooting, posted message online saying 'please don't be mad at me'

Jared Lee Loughner, the alleged gunman in the Tucson shooting of the US congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, had been behaving increasingly erratically in recent months.

The 22-year-old army reject had posted rambling videos online in which he made statements about mind control, Swat teams and the gold standard. On his MySpace page he posted a photograph of a handgun resting on top of a United States history textbook.

The motivations for the shootings remained unclear. The Pima County sheriff, Clarence Dupnik, described Loughner as mentally unstable and said he may have had an accomplice.

In October 2007 Loughner was cited in Pima County for possession of drug paraphernalia, a charge that was dismissed after he completed a diversion program, according to online records. "He has kind of a troubled past, I can tell you that," Dupnik said.

Former schoolmates said Loughner, who remains in police custody, smoked marijuana and was prone to outbursts in class.

In one YouTube video he described himself as a US military recruit, but the US army confirmed he had been rejected for military service in 2008 for reasons it could not disclose.

Loughner had been a student at Pima Community College, but one of the videos he posted online was considered so disturbing by campus administrators that they suspended him in September.

Loughner and his parents attended a meeting with college officials who said he would require mental health clearance if he wanted to return, the New York Times reported.

Investigators have been scouring Loughner's MySpace page, which was removed within minutes of him being identified as the suspect. At about 5am on Saturday, he had written: "Goodbye [...] Dear friends ... Please don't be mad at me."

In one of several internet postings, Loughner suggested the government was trying to take advantage of him in some way. One video was called "My Final Thoughts: Jared Lee Loughner!".

In another posting, he wrote: "All humans are in need of sleep. Jared Loughner is a human. Hence, Jared Loughner is in need of sleep."

He also wrote about terrorism. "If I define terrorist, then a terrorist is a person who employs terror or terrorism, especially as a political weapon. I define terrorist," he wrote. "If you call me a terrorist then the argument to call me a terrorist is ad hominem. You call me a terrorist."

His YouTube page listed a series of favorite books, including Animal Farm by George Orwell and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.

In a video featuring text against a dark background, Loughner described inventing a new US currency and complained about the illiteracy rate among people living in Giffords's congressional district in Arizona.

"I know who's listening: Government officials, and the People," Loughner wrote. "Nearly all the people, who don't know this accurate information of a new currency, aren't aware of mind control and brainwash methods. If I have my civil rights, then this message wouldn't have happen."

Today, the street where Loughner lived with his parents a middle-class neighbourhood five minutes from the scene of the shooting was blocked off by police. Neighbours said Loughner could often be seen walking his dog, almost always wearing a hooded sweatshirt and listening to his iPod. He grew up in Tucson and had been an unremarkable student at Mountain View high school, classmates said.

One high school peer, Grant Wiens, 22, said Loughner seemed to be "floating through life" and "doing his own thing".

He said: "Sometimes religion was brought up, or drugs. He smoked pot, I don't know how regularly. And he wasn't too keen on religion, from what I could tell."

Lynda Sorenson said she took a class with Loughner last summer at Pima community college. He was "obviously very disturbed", she told the Arizona Daily Star. "He disrupted class frequently with nonsensical outbursts."

Gabriella Carillo, 22, said she remembered Loughner as a tall, intelligent teenager who was good at basketball, liked to read and worked hard in his high school band classes, but didn't seem to apply himself in other courses.

"I know that he caused a lot of trouble in his classes other than band," she said. "If he tried, he would probably be at the top of our class. But he kind of just wasted his life.

"There are some guys who are just angry," she said. "I never really saw a smile on his face at all."

Don Coorough, 58, who sat two desks in front of Loughner in a poetry class, described him as a "troubled young man" and "emotionally underdeveloped". After another student read a poem about an abortion, Loughner compared the young woman to a "terrorist for killing the baby", he said.
