Seymour Hersh: Many in Joint Spec'l Ops Command ... Kinghts of Malta

David - I'm in total agreement. And note again that the Covert Action piece is from 1986.

All of which begs the question: why is Seymour Hersh speaking of such things now?

That Jan, is the question isn't it.

Factionalism perhaps? Not everyone who is CIA - either directly or as an asset - would go along with the Opus Dei vision of our future. I'm sure many would resent it greatly, in fact.

But I'm only guessing.

Btw, not all DCI's accept the honour offered, I understand.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.

In view of Anthony Thorne's post No. 142 in the Gifford shooting thread, I am copying his whole post here because I think it potentially answers Jan's question about why Sy Hersh speaking of such things now.

My take was factionalism. And I suspect this is exactly what is going on in the wings -- two factions, one seeking the armageddon option, and the other seeking to curtail that possibiity.

Posted by Anthony Thorne:

Quote:EP Heidner, the likely pseudonymous author who drafted the epic September 11 Commission Report' analysis that I posted a link to some months back, has briefly commented on the Gifford shooting on his blog. (Heidner's articles are infrequent - this is his first blog posting in 17 months). The link to the original source is right below but I've reprinted his entire piece here for reference. Food for thought and I suspect the author's anonymity is not unrelated to his seemingly deep and close-hand knowledge of the world of intel and dirty tricks. - - -

Congresswoman Gifford's Assassination Attempt May Not Be What It Appears

The appearance of FBI Director Robert Mueller at the Arizona assassination site might be a puzzle to some. Mueller's resume is such that whenever the enterprise wants to cover up an ugly situation, they put Bob in charge of the investigation and Bob is the best clean-up guy around. (BCCI CIA banking investigation, the Noriega-CIA connections, Iran-Contra investigation which cleared the Bush Enterprise of any involvement, 9-11 Investigation, which cleared the Enterprise of its involvement).(1)

There is no way to put this gently. Mueller is there to ensure that Enterprise ties to this young shooter are not exposed. They will be found. Researchers need to be vigilant as shortly after these pieces of evidence are uncovered, they will disappear into the "classified information" lock box. The Enterprise requires a major media distraction from any investigation into the discovery of the body of Air Force Secretary John Wheeler the III' in a dumpster last week.(2) John Wheeler's assassination was bungled by someone who allowed the body to be discovered, and the Arizona media drama has been put in play as a distraction, nothing more. The assassinations in Arizona are meaningless other than as a distraction for the bigger cover-up.

"Wheeler was the assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force in the George W. Bush Administration. It was the Secretary of the Air Force who discovered that Richard Cheney had set up an alternative chain of command to the nuclear weapons wing of the AF. In the process, six minutemen missiles armed with nuclear warheads were secretly transported from Minot AFB to Barksdale AFB. The later is the chief staging base for the Middle East war. The alarm system for the weapons was deactivated for the transport, something that not even the base commander could authorize. The orders had to have come from above. Many point to Cheney. Before the warheads could be flown via B-52 to the Iraq/Iran theater, the Secretary of the Air Force ordered the stand-down of all B-52 flights. When he discovered the alternative chain of command to Cheney, he fired all military personnel who were involved. Cheney was said to have been livid. The Secretary ordered an investigation of what the AF press release called an oversight, and 70 enlisted men and 5 officers were removed from the Minot nuclear system. At the same time, people involved began to die mysteriously. Wheeler is only the latest casualty." (3) That said, within weeks and months of the aborted theft being discovered in 2007, at least 4 of the involved crewmembers died, and it is reported now that 6-8 may be dead.

Aye Jan.

It seems to me though, that tis time we are dealing with something potentially far more dangerous.

Did you ever read the last few pages of Al Martin's book "The Conspirators" written by Uri Dowbenko? I wasn't a big fan, nor of Martin himself when I spoke to him, but in the end piece he spoke about an endgame that is not at all un-similar to the foregoing armageddon strategy.

Then, of course, we can mix in the Chialism of fundamental far-right Christians...

David - I can't recall it in detail, and my copy of "The Conspirators" is not easily accessible.

However, is it similar to Al Martin's insider "Protocols for Economic Collapse in America"? Pentagon plans based on the US declaring force majeure on debt service and thus precipitating a global financial collapse?

See those protocols in full at scribd link below:

U.S. Treasury Secretary Admits U.S. Default Is Imminent

Timothy Geithner, U.S. Treasury Secretary, admitted in a letter to congress dated January 6th, that the United States Treasury would be forced to default on its credit obligations, without clearance from congress, to raise the amount of money that the Treasury is allowed to borrow.

After citing a list of "extraordinary measures" congress has had to resort to in the past to avoid entering a state of default, Geithner stated:

Once these steps have been taken, no remaining legal and prudent measures would be available to create additional headroom under the debt limit, and the United States would begin to default on its obligations.

The extraordinary measures include,

suspending sales of State and Local Government Series (SLGS) Treasury securities; suspending reinvestment of the Government Securities Investment Fund (G-Fund); suspending reinvestment of the Exchange Stabilization Fund (ESF); and determining that a "debt issuance suspension period" exists, permitting redemption of existing, and suspension of new, investments of the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund (CSRDF).

That the United States has already defaulted on its obligations is beyond dispute at this point, as the rate at which its debt service obligations is growing exceeds the rate at which the United States GDP could possibly grow. This means that, without drastic cuts to government spending, the debt can only continue to grow.

Before our very eyes, the so-called leadership of the world's largest economy is intentionally bankrupting the country and devaluing its currency in what can only be a precursor to rampant inflation. Since the integrity necessary to manage this problem does not exist within the United States political system, the rest of the world has no choice but to stand by and watch the value of their United States Treasury Bills diminish incrementally on a daily basis. Selling them will only exacerbate the problem, but the question must be asked, how long until the remedy is preferred over the miserable condition?

Geithner goes on to say, in a remarkable baring of the national soul:

However, if Congress were to fail to act, the specific consequences would be as follows:

The Treasury would be forced to default on legal obligations of the United States, causing catastrophic damage to the economy, potentially much more harmful than the effects of the financial crisis of 2008 and 2009.
  • A default would impose a substantial tax on all Americans. Because Treasuries represent the benchmark borrowing rate for all other sectors, default would raise all borrowing costs. Interest rates for state and local government, corporate and consumer borrowing, including home mortgage interest, would all rise sharply. Equity prices and home values would decline, reducing retirement savings and hurting the economic security of all Americans, leading to reductions in spending and investment, which would cause job losses and business failures on a significant scale.
  • Default would have prolonged and far-reaching negative consequences on the safe-haven status of Treasuries and the dollar's dominant role in the international financial system, causing further increases in interest rates and reducing the willingness of investors here and around the world to invest in the United States.
  • Payments on a broad range of benefits and other U.S. obligations would be discontinued, limited, or adversely affected, including:
    • U.S. military salaries and retirement benefits;
    • Social Security and Medicare benefits;
    • veterans' benefits;
    • federal civil service salaries and retirement benefits
    • individual and corporate tax refunds;
    • unemployment benefits to states;
    • defense vendor payments;
    • interest and principal payments on Treasury bonds and other securities;
    • student loan payments;
    • Medicaid payments to states; and
    • payments necessary to keep government facilities open.
I personally am stunned. No mention is made of sales of assets held by the United States government. Rather than liquidate its own real estate to cover its debt, the defective and fiduciarily delinquent U.S. government plans to first eradicate the incomes of its poorest citizens.

If this document is not a harbinger of impending civil unrest on a national scale in the United States, I can't imagine what is. Big, big changes are on the horizon though. Of that there is no doubt.

Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours.

Chilling.

I remember a major US investment bank stating this precise possibility two years ago. They key was "confidence" - that is to say that while other nations continue to have confidence in US Treasury obligations things may be okay, but if that confidence departs, chaos would rule and the dollar would crash beyond resuscitation.
