America 'sold British nuclear secrets to Russia': WikiLeaks
#1
America is to give the Russians details of Britain's Trident missiles under a new treaty, according to the latest WikiLeaks revelations.
The deal, which will be signed by U.S. President Barack Obama next week, will see Moscow given information about the missiles, which are manufactured and maintained in America.
The Daily Telegraph claims the Americans used the details of British nuclear secrets as a 'bargaining chip' to persuade Russia to sign the key treaty.
Experts told the newspaper - which has obtained hundreds of leaked US embassy cables from Wikileaks - that the arms control deal could undermine Britain's policy of not confirming the numbers of missiles.
The U.S.-Russia deal was not supposed to have any impact on Britain, but the Telegraph says the classified messages sent to Washington show how details on Britain's weaponry was 'crucial' to the New START deal.
The messages reportedly show Russia demanded more information on the UK Trident programme - and so Washington asked London for permission to hand over details about the UK missiles' performance.
Following the UK refusal, the US agreed to give the serial numbers of missiles it transfers to Britain.
Professor Malcolm Chalmers told the paper: 'This appears to be significant because while the UK has announced how many missiles it possesses, there has been no way for the Russians to verify this.
'Over time, the unique identifiers will provide them with another data point to gauge the size of the British arsenal.'
Duncan Lennox, editor of Jane's Strategic Weapons Systems, added: 'They want to find out whether Britain has more missiles than we say we have, and having the unique identifiers might help them.'

You have to wonder why Blighty buys these fucking things to begin with. Firstly, we can't use them without US permission - as they control the release keys - and secondly, they give away their secrets as "bargaining chips" to suit their own grand strategy.

There's not much point really is there.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.

Mmmmm... what can I say? They could have saved billions if they'd just had blow up plastic imitation ones. No one would have known as they couldn't be used either. And they still could have been a deterrent against the French.

The Poodle is getting really raw deal lately....toys you can't play with without permission; favorite toys schematics given to others; used and abused - even maybe had one of your cryptologists offed. Maybe you should consider seceding! It is obviously an S & M kind of relationship Whip:ballchain: help together by our mutual history and almost mutual language.....but suspenders on farmer Bubba with the pot belly are not suspenders on Ms. Dolly in the knee-high leather boots with the stiletto heels and 'G' string.

Probably why Blighty signed a deal with the Froggies to share aircraft carrier resources....

All is explained in the best Apes movie, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, with a screenplay written by Paul Dehn - the former Special Operations Executive turned scriptwriter, who credits also include the 1966 version of The Spy Who Came In From The Cold.

Chuck Heston jumps into a holographic hallucination to enter the Forbidden Zone, a subterranean, post-apocalyptic, NYC subway where arrogant human survivors worship the Doomsday Rocket, glistening in the altar of their church, praying to the Thing that transformed them into mutants....

The trailer I've linked to above contains some of the film's key shots.

The Alpha and Omega link here is to a scene written by Dehn, and filmed, but cut by the studio from the released version of Beneath.

In the scene, the human mutant leader says: "If the impossible should happen, if the apes should defeat us, I will not surrender to an animal." The missile silo opens, and the leader talks of programming the Doomsday Rocket to hit Ape City.

The scene never saw cinematic release.

But then in 1970, MAD - Mutually Assured Destruction - was all the rage with the generalissimos...
