Sample letter and contact details for Rep, Steven F Lynch. Via Greg Parker.

Dear Rep. Lynch,

The House Oversight Committee is responsible for holding public hearings that oversee the laws of the United States, including the JFK Act of 1992 and the work of the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB), that has yet to be given any oversight since the Review Board was dissolved over fifteen years ago.

The 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F Kennedy is fast approaching. Among the flurry of books, documentaries and films which will no doubt flood the market in that lead up, some plain silly; others more scholarly, will be a growing push for the oversight needed, promised, enshrined in law, but not delivered.

This is not about looking for a "conspiracy", though in the normal meaning of the word, I am certain there was one. It is about openness and rule of law.

I write to you now in the hope you can convince the committee to be pro-active and not wait until public pressure forces its hand.

Among the issues which this process could help address are:

Why the Secret Service records were intentionally destroyed after being requested by the ARRB
How national security records could go missing without any investigation of their disposition
Why significant numbers of records are still wrongfully and illegally being withheld

In the interests of openness, I should also tell you I am not a citizen of the US. However, as you may well understand, many events emanating from the US affect the global community. The assassination of a president looking toward detente in the Cold War was most assuredly one such event.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. May you have continued success in serving your state and your country.

Open Letter to the Chairman of the House Oversight Committeeof the USCongress Rep. Darrell Issa (R. Calf

Rep. Darrell Issa (R. Calf.)

Dear Rep. Issa,

As chairman of the House Oversight Committee, you are responsible for holding public hearings that oversee the laws of the United States, including the JFK Act of 1992 and the work of the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB), that has yet to be given any oversight since the Review Board was dissolved over fifteen years ago.

The last time the Republicans controlled the Committee they didn't conduct any oversight at all for over a decade, and the few years that the Democrats were in control they appeared sympathetic but "didn't want torock the boat." Well now you are in the driver's seat, and are threatening to hold oversight hearings every week, and if you do, then oversight of the JFKAct should be given a top priority.

It is an important subject that many Americans are concerned about, and there will be an increase in interest with the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy administration. There are many questions that deserve to be addressed, including why Secret Service records were intentionally destroyed after they were requested by the ARRB, why other important assassination records were destroyed, how national security records could go missing without any investigation of their disposition, and why significant numbers of records are still wrongfully and illegally being withheld.

This is a non-partisan issue supported by both Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives, conspiracy and non-conspiracy advocates alike, and is of serious concern to the majority of Americas who have lost their confidence in the government.

I believe you will take this issue seriously and request to be notified, if and when you decide to schedule an oversight hearing on the JFK Act, so I can make arrangements to attend and review the proceedings that will be of interest to all Americans.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter,

You don't even have to write your own letter. Just print out and fax my letter with your name and address and request to be notified when they decide to hold a hearing on the JFK Act, and give your name address and email contact.

If we flood the committee with hundreds of requests, they'll get the idea, eventually.

We also have to get others involved, especially Jim Lesar, Dan Alcorn, John Judge, Cyril Wecht, Bill Turner, David Talbot, Jeff Morley and those who run other open-government organizations, such as Society of American Scientists and NSA - National Security Archives, so if you know any of these people - contact them and get the to write letters too.

Thanks for all involved, and if successful it will be a certifiably joint effort,

Bill Kelly
