History Channel (CIA) Re-Writing Viet Nam
#11
Quote:I've heard Jane handed notes given to her by American POW's over to the North Vietnamese.

Albert

I believe that to be just a hateful rumor.

Jane made a huge mistake when she visited North Vietnam and applauded the NVA gunners at an anti-aircraft weapon, and then sitting behind the gun, smiling and such. Many Vets take this as a treasonous act. They absolutely hate her for it.

It isn't necessary to rely upon a tired old anecdote of a note betrayed.

A "mistake" is a typo. What Fonda did was deeply intentional.

The broadcasts by Jane Fonda in North Vietnam are accessible via this link among others: [URL="http://www.wintersoldier.com/index.php?topic=FondaHanoi"]http://www.wintersoldier.com/index.php?topic=FondaHanoi

Without condoning what Jane did, remember who was behind the Viet Nam War and how we got in to it. There were a lot of people "stickin' it to the man" at the time.

Me personally, if I were one of those vets I'd be much more concerned that we now live in a country where it wouldn't be possible for any Jane Fonda's to do something like that. I think Sean Penn visited Saddam, but that was only to try to prevent war and work it out.

By the way, I think Jane apologized.

Let me rephrase this then:

If Jane's actions were intentional,it was a huge mistake.Wink

No,really,I have no animosity towards Jane personally, but to a soldier fighting that war, that was a deeply felt betrayal. And,as Albert has noted, she (after years) did apologize for it.I come from the point of view of the soldier here, not the peace activist. But it's all good.I'm surely not the one to throw stones......
