So, you can invade illegally, rape, murder and pillage, completely destroy fully functioning countries and the millions who live there but what will lose you the job is if you love one too many women.....Patriarchy is fucked up beyond all belief. Clearly there is more to this.....
Quote:CIA Director General Petraeus Resigns
- Common Dreams staff
Director of CIA General David Petraeus announced his resignation today after admitting an extra-marital affair.
Photo By YURI GRIPAS/REUTERSNBC's Andrea Mitchell, who broke the story on air, said the resignation was announced in a letter to the CIA work force dated Friday.
Mitchell added that Petraeus's letter notes he exercised "extremely poor judgment" with the affair, and that he was stepping down to deal with the subsequent "personal and professional issues."
President Obama released a statement Friday, saying that Michael J. Morell, the deputy director of the CIA, would take over once again as acting director.
Petraeus became head of CIA in September of 2011 following his tour as head of allied forces in Afghanistan.
Petraeus' wrote the following letter to the CIA work force:
HEADQUARTERS Central Intelligence Agency
9 November 2012
Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House and asked the President to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position as D/CIA. After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours. This afternoon, the President graciously accepted my resignation.
As I depart Langley, I want you to know that it has been the greatest of privileges to have served with you, the officers of our Nation's Silent Service, a work force that is truly exceptional in every regard. Indeed, you did extraordinary work on a host of critical missions during my time as director, and I am deeply grateful to you for that.
Teddy Roosevelt once observed that life's greatest gift is the opportunity to work hard at work worth doing. I will always treasure my opportunity to have done that with you and I will always regret the circumstances that brought that work with you to an end.
Thank you for your extraordinary service to our country, and best wishes for continued success in the important endeavors that lie ahead for our country and our Agency.
With admiration and appreciation,
David H. Petraeus

Magda,
Surely, this can't have anything to do with Benghazi. I admit right now it's a stretch. But ....

Quote:Speaking on CNN, former CIA operative Bob Baer noted that while resignations from extramarital affairs are not unheard of at the agency, they are almost never the announced reason for giving up the post.
"I think there's a big story behind it," Baer said.
FWIW:One commenter mentioned something about the FBI investigating his girlfriend because of apparent hacking of his email. So,basically,he was forced to come clean.

Patraeus and his lover were being investigated by the FBI for her having access to secret documents. Patraeus resigned. A few days ago his girlfriend wrote Patraeus's Rules for Living . . .
1. Lead by example from the front of the formation. Take your performance personallyif you are proud to be average, so too will be your troops.
2. A leader must provide a visionclear and achievable "big ideas" combined in a strategic conceptand communicate those ideas throughout the entire organi*zation and to all other stakeholders.
3. A leader needs to give energy; don't be an oxygen thief.
4. There is an exception to every rule, standard operating procedure, and poli*cy; it is up to leaders to determine when exceptions should be made and to ex*plain why they made them.
5. We all will make mistakes. The key is to recognize them and admit them, to learn from them, and to take off the rear* view mirrorsdrive on and avoid making them again.
6. Be humble. The people you'll be lead*ing already have on-the-ground conflict experience. "Listen and learn."
7. Be a team player. "Your team's triumphs and failures will, obviously, be yours." Take ownership of both.
8. Don't rely on rank. If you rely on rank, rather than on the persuasiveness of your logic, the problem could be you and either your thinking or your com*munication skills. Likewise, sometimes the best ideas come from bottom-up information sharing (i.e., "Need to share" not "Need to know"). Use "direct*ed telescopes" to improve situational awareness.
9. Leaders should be thoughtful but deci*sive. Listen to subordinates' input, evaluate courses of action and second- and third-order effects, but be OK with an "80 per*cent solution." "There will be many moments when all eyes turn to you for a decision. Be prepared for them. Don't shrink from them. Embrace them." Some*times the best move is the bold move.
[B]10. Stay fit to fight. Your body is your ulti*mate weapons system. Physical fitness for your body is essential for mental fitness.
11. The only thing better than a little com*petition is a lot of competition. Set chal*lenges for your subordinates to encourage them to excel.
12. Everyone on the team is mission criti*cal. Instill in your team members a sense of great self-worththat each, at any given time, can be the most important on the battlefield.

And the buzz is Petraeus won't testify before Congress on Benghazi.
Where's the intelligence?

Now that it is out that she is woman, here is her interview on the Daily Show. It is kinda awkward.

I had found plugged that interview into 5: she's a wise-ass.
Stewart's double entendre meter pinned.
The buzz at this hour:
That he was being blackmailed and bargained to delay his retirement until after the election, but before a Senate hearing, and on a Friday afternoon.
That he was lit up by a) Obama; b) Hillary; c) Valerie Jarrett as a future political rival to be taken out now.
That the FBI was/is investigating Broadwell's access to confidential information, that leaks to media regarding Benghazi indicate high-level source.
(The prescience of Obama's reupping Mueller, the principle of utility.)
Many observations she was a honey trap, either self-starter fueled by ambition, or any number of possible intelligence buyers.
That he's a fool goes without saying.
The danger of a moron running the CIA is mitigated by a) the DCI probably gets a PlaySkool set of controls; b) the CIA didn't like him.
Is he the chaff to decoy the air-to-air missiles--look! Over there! A sex scandal!
Who will replace him, Holder, Hillary, Panetta.
Sniffing another Paula, Bill Clinton was headed for Langley in a vintage pickup with Astroturf.
Krauthammer is said to have compared Petraeus and the surge to MacArthur and the Inchon Landing.
Korea aids Syrian reactor program and Iraq grants safe passage to Iran convoys to Assad--amazing parallel universes converge.

The biggest double entendre was the title of her book. Stewart must have felt Christmas had come early but couldn't figure out how to do that one on a family show. The interview's giddiness meter was all the way to eleven.
There is going to be a lot of theories on this one. Mostly noise injected by various points of view.
One of the great narratives of our time is real time sin and redemption. Are we looking at a future first lady? Too weird to contemplate? Who would think that one of America's war heroes could dump his worn out wife for trophy babe and then still run for President? Petreaus will find redemption, understanding and given a remake, unless he is utterly neutralized.
