Suicide by self-stabbing is certainly rare but I can think of one semi-famous example in the form of the musician Elliott Smith.

As you do of course. If you believe what the Met says anyway. I rarely believe anything they say these days.
I'm inclined to put these suicides in the "assisted" category like those prison inmates who hang themselves in their cells - some even with arms restricted with torn bedding to avoid abrasions and meddling/having a change of heart -- plus prisoners officers hanging bodily to their feet to ensure the suicide reaches a quick and agreeable conclusion.
But then I a cynic at heart. Really I am.

5 Passengers Die in New York Train Wreck 3 Were Top Investment Bankers
Posted on February 14, 2015 by Mac Slavo
http://www.dcclothesline.com/2015/02/14/...t-bankers/
Quote:The story of the dead bankers rolls forward.
In December 2014, Zero Hedge rounded up a list of 36 dead bankers who died recently under mysterious or odd circumstances, leaving only "riddles" and probing questions about their possible connections.
Researcher John Vibes has already rounded up 9 more dead bankers who've died as of January 2015.
Now, a bizarre Hollywood-style train collision with an SUV Mercedes sitting on the tracks leaves three more dead bankers, along with a pharmaceutical researcher and a well-known art curator.
Though it was a terrible accident, the vast majority of the estimated 400-700 passengers were fortunately not injured. Only five passengers died, and all, it seems, were noteworthy figures.
According to the initial investigations of the NTSB, which include witnesses at the scene, the driver exited the vehicle on the tracks to inspect it being hit by a crossing gate:
Reports so far show that 49-year-old Ellen Brody crossed onto the tracks, when the crossing gate slammed down on the back of her vehicle. Instead of pulling through the intersection though, she got out to inspect the back of her car. It was when she got back in her car and started to pull forward that she was struck by the passing train going 58mph.
The crash led to the train being engulfed in flames after the electrified third rail basically incinerated the passenger cars. Loaded with hundreds of passengers, a reported 70 were injured and only five died, with the conductor and train operator among the survivors of the freak accident:
Hundreds of feet of electrified rail skewered the first two carriages of a New York commuter train in a collision with a car at a railroad crossing, a federal investigator said on Wednesday, describing the area's worst rail crash in decades.
Investigators were focused on why the car was stopped at the crossing near the suburb of White Plains north of New York City before the Metro-North train crashed into it during Tuesday evening's rush hour, pushing the vehicle about 1,000 feet down the line.
The rail broke into long pieces, penetrating the first train carriage as a fire broke out, apparently fueled by gasoline in the vehicle's fuel tank, gutted the rail car's interior, he said. At least one section of the electrified, or "third," rail also entered the second carriage near its ceiling.
[…]
Five train passengers and the woman who was driving the Mercedes sport utility vehicle that was stuck on the tracks were killed. Investigators said they do not yet have an explanation for how the vehicle, which officials had earlier mistakenly identified as a Jeep, became stuck on the tracks.
So, who were the unfortunate victims of this horrific crash?
Out of the hundreds of passengers from the general public who could have had the misfortune of being among the five passengers killed from the train, it is seems that all five were prominent figures in New York society.
What are the odds? Bloomberg Business carried these obituaries:
Joseph Nadol, 42. Managing director at JPMorgan, who joined the Manhattan-based bank in 2001. Institutional Investor magazine in 2009 named him the best analyst covering the aerospace and defense-electronics industries. Died Feb. 3 in the Metro-North Railroad train accident.
Eric Vandercar, 53. Senior managing director in institutional sales and trading and head of municipal funding at Mesirow Financial, in New York. He had previously spent 27 years at Morgan Stanley. Died Feb. 3 in the Metro-North Railroad train accident.
Aditya Tomar, 41. JPMorgan vice president of technology supporting the bank's asset-management division. Before joining JPMorgan, he worked at Morgan Stanley, Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. and Barclays Capital. Died Feb. 3 in the Metro-North Railroad train accident.
Robert Dirks, 36. Scientist at D.E. Shaw Research, which creates computer models of organic molecules for use in drug development.A high school valedictorian, he received a Ph.D. in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology. Died Feb. 3 in the Metro-North Railroad train accident.
Walter Liedtke, 69. Oversaw the collection and special exhibitions of European paintings at the Met Museum in Manhattan for the past 35 years. He was an authority on the works of Johannes Vermeer and Rembrandt. Died Feb. 3 in the Metro-North Railroad train accident.
In a further tragedy for the family of Aditya Tomar, the hospital initially mixed up his records and reported that Tomar was fine and undergoing x-rays,' giving them initial relief, when in fact, it turned out that he was deceased:
Reshma and her brother rushed to Westchester County Medical Center to see if Tomar was among the injured, where they received some good but ultimately false news.
Somebody there, the security, said, "He's fine, he's undergoing X-rays," Dee said.
That person also told Reshma to go home and come back in the morning, but her brother remained suspicious that all was well.
Something didn't add up in my son's mind, so he dropped his sister home and went back on his own,' Dee said. He was there all night trying to figure out if (Tomar) was actually in the hospital.'
The next morning, they realized that everyone at the hospital had been accounted for except Tomar, and Reshma submitted her husband's medical records to the Medical Examiner. Later that night they finally got confirmation that he was among the deceased.
A spokesman for Westchester Medical Center told the Daily News that they are looking into the incident.
That's a vice president and two managing directors for the big banks, with overlapping investment interests in defense contracting and technology.
In a dramatic and strange accident where the "front carriage of the train explode[d] into a fireball," we must ask questions about what is really behind this tragedy.
Really? What are the odds? A completely devastating train wreck, and none of those who lost their lives happened to have low level, average jobs?
Are bankers disappearing and dying to silence what they know?
Is something else going on?
"There are three sorts of conspiracy: by the people who complain, by the people who write, by the people who take action. There is nothing to fear from the first group, the two others are more dangerous; but the police have to be part of all three,"

Another curious banker death...
Quote:New York City trader froze to death in solo hike in New Hampshire mountains
Kate Matrosova activated her emergency beacon amid sub-zero temperatures and 100 mph winds
PAYTON GUION
NEW YORK
Tuesday 17 February 2015
New York City credit trader Kate Matosova was found dead on Monday after she embarked on a solo hike in the White Mountains of New Hampshire on Sunday and faced sub-zero temperatures and 100 mph (160 kph) winds.
Ms Matrosova's husband dropped her off at the base of the mountains Sunday morning and she planned to hike Mount Washington, the New York Post reported. On Sunday afternoon, Ms Matrosova activated her emergency beacon, but crews could not immediately locate her because the beacon was sending coordinates spread out over a mile.
Crews found Ms Matrosova on Monday, dead from exposure to the elements, between Mount Madison and Mount Adams in the White Mountains' Presidential Range, named after US presidents.
Ms Matrosova reportedly was an experienced hiker and her Facebook page showed some of her previous adventures, including a hike to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro.
She was a credit trader with BNP Paribas in New York, according to her Linkedin profile. Ms Matrosova previously worked for Beach Capital Management and JP Morgan.
The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, which found Ms Matrosova, did not return calls for comment.

Why on earth would anyone go hiking in the coldest weather perhaps ever? Especially alone? This death may just be stupidity in the extreme.

9 die in fire destroying Argentine bank archives
By Associated Press, Published: February 5
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina Nine first-responders were killed and seven others injured as they battled a fire of unknown origin that destroyed an archive of corporate and banking industry documents in Argentina's capital on Wednesday.
The fire at the Iron Mountain warehouse took hours to control and at least half of the sprawling building was ruined despite the efforts of at least 10 squads of firefighters.
The nine firefighters and civil defense workers were crushed when a brick wall collapsed on top of a large group of first-responders on the sidewalk and street outside. Tearful rescuers removed rubble by hand to reach their comrades.
"It took them completely by surprise," said Argentina's Security Secretary Sergio Berni said. "Some of the injured are fighting for their lives."
Berni said Iron Mountain also had employees inside the building when the fire started early Wednesday, but all the employees and firefighters were accounted for by early afternoon.
The destroyed archives included documents stored for Argentine corporations and banks, said Buenos Aires security minister Guillermo Montenegro.
The cause wasn't immediately clear. Berni said the company's on-site firefighters shared some details with authorities, and Iron Mountain said it too will investigate.
"All of this will end up in court," Berni said, declining to make any details public.
If the cause is found to be arson, it wouldn't be the first time for Boston-based Iron Mountain Inc., which manages, stores and protects information for more than 156,000 companies and organizations in 36 countries. Fire investigators blamed arson for blazes that destroyed its warehouses in New Jersey in 1997 and London in 2006, prompting rounds of legal claims over lost records.
Iron Mountain issued a statement saying "we are deeply saddened by the deaths of the brave first responders who rushed to save our facility. Our thoughts are also with those who have been hospitalized, and we wish them a quick and complete recovery."
"We will investigate the cause of the fire and work closely with local investigators, police and fire authorities to understand what happened. The building was equipped with both fire-detection as well as a sprinkler system," the company said, adding that it is contacting its customers whose documents were lost.

Argentina: HSBC Embroiled in Deliberate Fire Coverup

Published 10 March 2015
Argentine authorities are investigating a possibly deliberate fire in which documents from major financial institutions were lost documents that contain information about economic fraud committed in the country.
After a police analysis determined that the fire that burnt down two warehouses belonging to the Iron Mountain company in Buenos Aires in February 2014 was intentional, several questions about the links between the company and its clients and also with the Buenos Aires City government have raised.
The Financial Information Unit of Argentina is investigating a conspiracy between Iron Mountain and its major clients - international financial companies such as banks HSBC, BNP Paribas and JP Morgan - to destroy documentation involving economic crimes, by causing a fire in the company's warehouses.
According to José Sbatella, the head of the Unit, "They have come to justify the lack of documentation by saying they lost it in the fire. However, this does not explain why these companies have not filed any lawsuits against Iron Mountain for this."
He added that only two of the 29 companies that lost documentats made complaints against Iron Mountain.
"It seems to me that the other 29 had no trouble with it," he said, ironically.
Suspicions also involve the Buenos Aires city administration.
Since 2008 the local administration started to promote the setting up of technological industries in the southern areas of the city giving them tax reduction benefits.
Iron Mountain's location was not in this area, but the head of Economic Development of the City, former HSBC executive Francisco Cabrera, intervened in order to give the company these tax benefits. It turns out HSBC was the most affected company in the fire, and it is one of Iron Mountain's biggest client globally.
The negligence of the company in fire prevention also involves local government.
An inspector of the Secretariat of Labor of the local government wanted to close down Iron Mountain's facilities for lack of security measures, but superior officers put a stop to this closure because of the good relationship between Iron Mountain and the local administration.
Furthermore, the company received awards from the right wing mayor Mauricio Macri even after this closure attempt.
Regarding this, Sbatella stated, "The city did not exercise its police power, thus it is also associated with the accident, not directly but indirectly."
"We believe that these unfortunate ten deaths encourage the search for direct and indirect responsibilities," he concluded.
“The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him.â€
