Yes Peter. I've been fascinated in this event in this in a car crash in slow motion sort of way. The Pakistani pollies may have reason to want some one between them and their military but surely they have watched and seen that everything the US touches turns to shit? The US will be there for their own reasons as they have never lifted so much as a finger to help any one in need unless there was some major quid pro quo. The joker in this scenario is the nuclear card which has been absent so far in all other US invasions.
I do recall during Clintons time and just after India and Pakistan had their little pissing contest about who was the biggest and meanest nuclear power in the region the US Embassy in called together some of the top military and politicians from both countries and while they were all having martinis the US flew over head bombed the bejesus out of an 'Al Qaida' camp or two in the north. Just to let them both know who was really the big shot.
