I have to agree that this conclusion seems to be a complete cop out and that henceforward Baker's motivates must be treated with caution. There are so many indications of a domestic cover-up over DK's suicide-ation that trying to pin it on Saddam merely points to the hypothesis that the same boys who brought us the Iraq wars - I & II - are almost certainly responsible for DK's demise also.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
