Fascism then. Fascism now?
#3
Back in print, is an oldie but goodie - Friendly Fascism by Gross. It was written in the time of Reagan [and positing that Reagan was the edging in of 'friendly' [Huey Long type] fascism. IMO fascism of the 'friendly' type has only blossomed since then and is in full bloom under the current Congress and Presifascist. Long also said that 'When fascism comes to the USA it will be wrapped in the American flag.' - I think a better quote and statement about what he meant. The new book 'American Nightmare' by Giroux is very much an update of Gross' Friendly Fascism and about the fascism of and behind Trump. And don't fail to read the book 'How Fascism Works' by Jason Stanley - a look at defining 'fascism' and how it applies today and in the USA and Europe.
"Let me issue and control a nation's money and I care not who writes the laws. - Mayer Rothschild
"Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience! People are obedient in the face of poverty, starvation, stupidity, war, and cruelty. Our problem is that grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem!" - Howard Zinn
"If there is no struggle there is no progress. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and never will" - Frederick Douglass
