They should make a twitter poll in the US and ask the people, if they feel that they are living in a state of emergency, like in a disaster or other grave danger.
If they say no, as most likely the majority will do, tell them that the president and congress think so, or at least say so.

Ask them, just as an assurance, to twitter their congressperson that everything is ok at their place.
