An exercise designed to test Fort Hood's ability to respond to a terrorist attack will be conducted Wednesday.
Military officials say the drill will involve a simulated explosion at the post's Abrams Fitness Center, resulting in mass casualties and triggering protective measures and emergency response.
Col. Tori Bruzese, Fort Hood's Garrison Commander said, "We have a duty to ensure that we are ready to thwart any attempt to harm America's most precious resource, our Soldiers and Familes." The drill is expected start at 1 p.m. and be completed by 5 p.m.
