Quote:I understand why people (psychopaths) send other people to war but I have never understood why those people so willingly go off to slaughter others in far away nations and die. For what? Someone else's bottom line? The enemy is behind them. They should turn around and deal with that enemy. Why isn't there a revolution over there? People are so bloody passive and permitting this blood sacrifice to continue.Well put, Magda. It is cynical in the extreme that this nation's military is recruiting so many youth from places that are so economically broken that they have no other option. The backbone of our military is the inner city or rural poor youth who sees "service" as a way out of poverty.
The Powers That Be know they'd have the 1960s all over again if they tried to institute a draft to provide their cannon fodder so instead they have created an economically driven conscription. Which makes it much easier to keep their Ivy League kids out of trouble than to have to try to evade a draft using tricks like the Bushes and Clintons did. Can't have things like that coming back to bite your privileged kids when they grow up and attempt to join the power-elite.
