I thought I'd better come back and clarify post #9 lest that be thought of as a racist or eugenicist comment, given the background theme of Nazism and its bizarre roots and practices and history.
It isn't, or wasn't.
What it meant to convey is that we are faced with a massive attack against information and knowledge. What was known or once documented, however unsteadily or absolutely, faces multiple atempts to erase it, eradicate it, destroy it in terms of reputation or source of by shooting the messenger, or by simple deletion, or by denial of access to it. It is very Orwellian in its nature to turn what we could take as a given and turn it inside out, or upside down. We will soon be reduced simply to what we can verify with our own direct senses, know from our internal make-up or the extents of our own meditative, philosophical, or psychological introspection, or what we can hear from the next fellow based on our knowledge and trust of him and his own personal authenticity.
They are taking all the books, knowledge, printed material, cyber-bytes and even beliefs and dumped into a giant vat, poured in the lye and the bleach, and turned up the heat. The temperature and acidic nature of the process will keep us away from the vats and the plant and the presses until such time as the super-heated, caustic glop has been cooled, drained, dried, pressed, ironed, cut and re-printed with new knowledge.
