I don't know for sure but certainly there were all the John Birch groups, Minutemen (and Minute Women) , World Anti-Communist League groups plus all the various ethnic and religious anti-communist groups plus the Klan and USNASP types proliferating around and many of them could have been involved in such a network. Not to mention the whole US shadow government and not a small bit of the 'official' government and its military.
