ROb:
Its you who are getting out of control.
Why you would take books like Twyman's and Nelson's so seriously despite their plethora of flaws, tells me one thing: You had a pet theory that you brought with you. You then started looking for stuff to fill it in with.
This does not make good research or honest research.
WHy? Because good research weighs and compares the value of certain witnesses and authors. To take a CIA slut like Hersh and to take his book seriously is just beyond the pale. You keep on harping on these SS men. What you don't do is go back to the source.
Do you know when the SS started blaming Kennedy for his own death? Its when the story about Kirkwood's first surfaced in the press.
You don' t understand that? THen it was BS about the bubble top. As time went on, and president's sex lives became the stuff of newspaper stories, Hersh then went on and started in with these SS guys who have never told the truth about that day. Why? Because if they had performed their duties by the book, Kennedy would probably not have died.
Repeat: You do not understand that? THen you have sex on the brain.
ITs called 1.) CYA and 2.) Blaming the victim.
Now you obviously have never read my essay on this subject have you? WHat is worse, you don't seem to care if you have not. I went through all these rumors about Kennedy's affairs. You know: Rometsch, MM, Exner, Meyer. IF you go to theouter extremes of Kennedy mania, you will actually find sources that said he had hisown line of hookers in the WH. THat is in the craziest anti Kennedy book of all, Thomas Reeves' nuthouse volume A Question of Character. (I shouldn't have mentioned it. You will now go out and get it and buy every paragraph as gospel.)
WHat I did was this: I traced the whole evolution of this genre from the beginning. ANd I showed that it was from the CHurch COmmittee, and I traced it to Kennedy's enemies who were so pissed off as a result of that investigation. You name it: the Blairs, Mr. Disinfo John Davis, Horowitz and Collier (who found a way to make money by becoming Democrats for Reagan--and boy did Scaife pile it on them). ANd finally Reeves. Whe had his own foundation to pay him off.
This is what I found out: Kennedy had two affairs while in the WH. One with Exner and one with Meyer. Neither of them had any effect on his policies. ANd neither of them were used by his enemies to blackmail him. This line of thinking all came out AFTER the fact. Exner was used by people at TIme-Life to embellish her story about every ten years. WHich is actually too kind. She lied her butt off to make money. Time Life gave her six figures and then attributed a story to someone who did not even write it. THey just made it all up. As I have proven with Meyer, the whole thing about LSD and drugs is BS added by Leary and Angleton years later.
I also examined the work of people like Summers on the whole MM story. Like you, Tony had an agenda with that book. He got quite angry with me when I riddled it for bad sourcing--in fact using outright liars like Slatzer.
Now you bring up this how LBJ got on the ticket thing. Do you know how many versions of this story have come down the pike? Literally a dozen. Now if you are going to use SUmmers, yes he will do the salacious bit--his weakness. But then why does he differ from Hersh--your other idol.
Let em explain why: Because when you are looking for sensationalistic crap, you don't care where it comes from. ANd you don't bother to look for inconsistencies or when the story first surfaced.
That you have not learned this yet tells everyone a lot. Probably a hangover from your days in the Clinton Crazies ranks. Scaife and Ruddy did one hell of a job there didn't they?
But he then got hoisted on his own petard. Or didn't you know that?
