At the request of an NGO who I had written a small piece for, I once spent an interesting couple of hours in the City (well Holborn anyway) offices of Cater-Ruck where I was encouraged to unload my "memories" of my former banks many weapon financing activities.
After 10 minutes a gentleman entered the room. He didn't say a word, wasn't introduced and sat quietly listening. But I knew who he was. Spook was written all over him.
The lawyer (a Partner) running the show was the son of a senior executive of my former bank.
This is how things work. You're bushwhacked at every turn.
Curiously, my memory failed me pretty badly that day.

The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
