Sample letter and contact details for Rep, Steven F Lynch. Via Greg Parker.
Dear Rep. Lynch,
The House Oversight Committee is responsible for holding public hearings that oversee the laws of the United States, including the JFK Act of 1992 and the work of the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB), that has yet to be given any oversight since the Review Board was dissolved over fifteen years ago.
The 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F Kennedy is fast approaching. Among the flurry of books, documentaries and films which will no doubt flood the market in that lead up, some plain silly; others more scholarly, will be a growing push for the oversight needed, promised, enshrined in law, but not delivered.
This is not about looking for a "conspiracy", though in the normal meaning of the word, I am certain there was one. It is about openness and rule of law.
I write to you now in the hope you can convince the committee to be pro-active and not wait until public pressure forces its hand.
Among the issues which this process could help address are:
Why the Secret Service records were intentionally destroyed after being requested by the ARRB
How national security records could go missing without any investigation of their disposition
Why significant numbers of records are still wrongfully and illegally being withheld
In the interests of openness, I should also tell you I am not a citizen of the US. However, as you may well understand, many events emanating from the US affect the global community. The assassination of a president looking toward detente in the Cold War was most assuredly one such event.
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. May you have continued success in serving your state and your country.
