Though the Salvation Army picked him up to take him to their Protestant night shelter , where they did give him a cuppa and a blanket (and possibly cucumber sandwiches), he did not feel particularly safe given his obvious recent incarceration at HM pleasure and even though he was Jewish and English and didn't have a dog in the Catholic/Protestant fight it was always "Well, are you a Protestant Jew or a Catholic Jew?" Given that he was married to a Catholic at the time I suppose he was a Catholic Jew :hmmmm:
