It wasn't meant as you took it. I think your 'wish' is a good wish, but one that under the current system is not imaginable [IMO]. One would have to change the system before any progress could be made. It was not from a high horse, but think what you will. I have ZERO faith in a/the totally broken, corrupt and bought out/sold out system. I'm glad for you you do. Some think that Obama will still deliver on his original promises....but so far he has not delivered [as I see it] on a single one and on all the things we ranted and raved against Bush for, Obama has either carried out the same programs/wars/secret prisons and assassinations or made the more draconian. But it is not Obame...he's not in control. Since 911 the theft of money and liberties, rule of law, openness of the government, redress of the government or courts has diminished drastically. Yes, the insurance companies won on this and I don't think without something like a mini-Civil Rights Movement [a Medical Rights Movement] will any of us see anything change, but the curtains on the stage of Oz. Sorry, no offense meant personally. I just disagree that there is any will on the part of Obama or others with hands on the levers of power to do anything. I have NO health insurance in the USA and never will.....of that I'm pretty sure. Single payer [national health insurance] as ALL developed nations BUT the USA has in one form or another would be wonderful...I simply feel American is going the exact other direction now - and fast, and your wish was wishful. I hope you're correct and I'm wrong. Get back to me in two years or four and see which way the wind blew....I think a foul wind is blowing for anyone who is poor or middle class; and a fair and strong wind blows for all those who are rich - and this will not change under Obama nor who follows him...quite the opposite...it will accelerate. My opinion/analysis. My experience. Not my hope......I'm hoping for Occupy [or something like it] to go viral and have a peaceful overthrow of the government which is a coup from Dallas [or before] to today...with a strong consolidation of power and secret laws on 911. They bail out Banks and such...they won't bail out the People. This is why a revolution is needed. They system is not working and can't [IMO] be made to work. The rich have declared a secret war on the poor and the powerful on those not in power. As far as I can see Obomismal Care helps few, and hurts or leaves in the same uninsured place, most....some will even have IRS debts and no insurance! While your analysis of why nothing more was or could be done may be correct, what was passed as then presented with smoke and mirrors to make it seem almost like a national health care system, when in fact it is a present to [and written by] the private insurance companies who have thrown people out of hospitals and under the bus/train/grave for a long time now, and will continue to do so. I hope again I'm wrong...but don't think so. Sadly. This fascist system will not give up one micrometer without enormous Public outrage and civil disobedience, IMO. We have come to that point. Us or them.
