The education system does not give people the means to question and understand their world and thier role in it despite individual teachers who may well be inspiring and who themselves are still mostly products of the same system. Systemically it is designed to churn out basically competent robots to operate the machinery of society to make money for others so they don't have to work but can still own. Not to change or question society. The last thing in the world TPTB want is an informed autonomous independent and empowered society interacting peacefully and co-operatively.
