A quote from Mae Brussell from the #4 post in The MK-Ultra Iceberg, another oldie-but-goodie which deserves a re-reading every so often:
Quote:Thank you for this summary Jan.
Your comments about Operation Phoenix reminded me of this quote from Mae Brussell (when asked about the Patty Hearst episode):
"What we are now experiencing is the importation of the dreaded "Operation Phoenix" program into the United States. William E. Colby, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, will be conducting paramilitary operations in order to escalate the necessity for martial law.
Through various created and manipulated acts of violence, the only "solution" to "chaos, anarchy, and senseless violent acts" will be a police state. Colby's C.I.A. specialty, the "Phoenix Operation" in Southeast Asia, was known for its torture, political assassinations, mass murders (20,000 to 40,000 civilians), tiger cages, rigged elections, and slanted intelligence...."
David, regarding your quote above, you used to work in The City of London. These were your people.
Never my people Lauren. I always hated their selfishness and greed, which for my money (no pun intended) remained the underlying psychology of their sociopathic behaviour. But yes, I had to work with them. Many are just ordinary guys like you and me. But it is the higher more rarified ones who seek the power -- and enjoy wielding it -- who have those dead eyes and concrete faces. I knew many who were in this category and one who was very well placed in the Oxford set (the Rhodes aspect) who knew simply everyone and everything.
After I left the City I used him as a sort of background source. I could ask him a question on virtually any subject and he would personally know the people involved and the true deep story. Really. Oddly enough, he was a very nice man too.
In the UK the old tradition has been that bankers become spooks, whereas in the US it is lawyers. I suppose this has much to do with the historic trading nation status of Blighty. Bankers know everything and most big banks have a very developed intelligence gathering arm (for business purposes, obviously) anyway.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
